About
*** Camp is closed for the 2023 season. The calendar is blocked off until mid June 2024. Please do not send messages asking if a spot is available unless we have available dates on our calendar. *** SmokinSoleResort is a five acre camp in the woods one mile from Eagle River, Michigan and the shore of Lake Superior, on the beautiful Keweenaw peninsula, at the tip top of the Michigan U.P. We have room for one fifth wheel up to 34-35 feet OR one pull behind camper up to 25 - 26 feet. In addition, we have room for two smaller campers, either pull behind, truck camper, or camper van (up to about 22-23 feet in length. One of these spots can accommodate slides, the other can not. The camp is only about a block's distance from the highway and a mile from the nearest small town, but it is still a little isolated. It should also be noted that the Keweenaw peninsula is in black bear country and there are both bears and wolves in the general area. Other wildlife (wild turkeys, deer, coyotes, raccoon, opossum, squirrels, partridge, woodpeckers, and a host of other birds and wildlife) is abundant! Drawbacks: You will almost certainly have to level your rig, more or less, depending on which spot you choose to park. Small camper vans might not need leveling. We don't offer electric hookups because we do not have electricity on the property. None, not even for us. We use a generator when necessary and if you have a generator you are welcome to use it as needed. HOST
Retired couple in our mid sixties. Details: We love the outdoors and we love camping, whether at our camp/cabin in the woods on the Keweenaw peninsula, or whether in our camper away from home. We had smaller campers for several years before upgrading to a fifth wheel. We enjoy gardening, four wheeling, hiking, coffee in our rocking chairs on the deck, photography, birds particularly our hummers, garage sales, antiques, and spending time with family, especially grandchildren! Editing 2022 to add that since September 2017, we have been living full time in our fifth wheel, while our youngest daughter and her family live in and caretake our house in town. We spend our summers at our camp property and travel in the winter doing various volunteer work camping positions. Home Town: Laurium, MI, on the beautiful Keweenaw peninsula at the tip top of the Michigan U.P. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We were new to boondocking in 2016. Although we have hosted several other members, we have so far had only a couple of experiences as guests. Skills or Expertise to Share: Jack and Jill of all trades. We have a lot of information to share about the local area.

House Rules
We do not allow dogs off leash because of the wildlife and also because we have s small dog of our own that is a little excitable about strange dogs (very friendly, just noisy). No campfires and no fireworks allowed due to the potential fire hazard. No dumping, not even grey water. Grey water attracts insects and bears. We have plenty of insects and we'd prefer not to actively attract the bears!
Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: Narrow road with sharp turn into property from the blacktop. Hard packed rock. Not perfectly smooth but only a short distance from the blacktop. We pull in a 30+ foot fifth wheel, but you need to be an experienced camper/RV driver to make the turn from the blacktop. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Anywhere in the area
