Prothero's Post Resort was founded in 1963 on the waters of beautiful Lake of the Woods, Minnesota. On 16 wooded acres, it consists of a small Trading Post store and nine log cabin rentals. Prothero’s is located a tiny bit more north than the Northernmost point buoy marker here at the Northwest Angle, Minnesota - the northernmost spot in the contiguous United States. To get here, you'll need the proper ID to first cross into Canada and then through an unmanned remote border crossing back into Minnesota. Our community is an exclave, similar to Point Roberts in Washington state. Still, unlike Point Roberts, you must travel approximately 20 miles of gravel roads if you're coming from the south (Minnesota proper) or +/-60 miles of gravel if you're coming from the north - the TransCanada highway at East Braintree. The back-in grass RV spot here at Prothero’s offers water and electricity, with a fire ring and picnic table. There's an outhouse, a kids' play area a short walk away, and access to all of the free-use lake fun, dock fishing, rentals, and more. There's no beach, but swimming off the dock is lovely. If you're here on a Thursday night, you can join our all-camp potluck fish fry and visit with other newcomers or long-time guests who have been coming back for decades.
