About
Nestled between the Jefferson and Madison rivers, Old Town Farmstand is located less than one mile from I-90. The farm shop is open from 11-6 Sun-Tues during the Summer (June-Sept). On Wednesdays and Thursdays you will find us at the local farmers markets in Manhattan (Weds) and Three Forks (Thursdays). During the colder months, the shop is open additional days.
The farm shop is located up a set of stairs off the deck located on the south side of the house. Inside the farm shop we have freshly baked breads, pastries, produce (seasonal), sandwiches, salads, candy, and poultry all made on site. We also have vendors that sell locally produced tallow skin care, custom made gifts, and other hand made items.
You are welcome to use the deck and table during business hours to enjoy the expansive views as well as the scenery. Relax and enjoy some sweets, sandwiches, salads, or bread from our farm shop while you sit and enjoy the views of the Bridger, Tobacco Root, and Gallatin mountains. Just please respect that if we are busy we ask that you share those areas with our other customers.
The farmhouse as well as the surrounding area has a long history. The farm was founded by the Dunbar family who moved from Missouri in the 1860s. The homestead site where the family first lived lies in the pasture in a stand of cottonwood trees. The home was built in 1908 at what was the center of Three Forks at the time. Soon after the town moved to its present location. The intersection adjacent to the house was going to be the original town center, hence the name ‘Old Town’.
The Dunbar family and their progeny owned the home until 2023 when we purchased it. The history of the home and area drew us to it. The beautiful area and scenic views are captivating.
There are lots of activities in the area. A short walk from the farm in either direction brings you to the Jefferson or the Madison river. Fishing, camping, bird watching, hiking trails, biking trails, and boat launches onto the rivers are all just a short distance walk or drive.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our farm!
