Pleasant Prairie Brewing and Taproom was founded to foster community-building. The venture was launched by Kara and Ben Fosland, area natives who share a fierce love of craft beer and northeast Montana. The brewery/taproom was built from the ground up in Scobey (pop: 999), with a strong focus on good beer, good people, and the free exchange of ideas for the benefit of our rural communities. As parents of young children, they envisioned a space where entire families could enjoy good music, good conversation, and fellowship. They also wanted to provide a venue for artists and musicians, and a supportive environment for those working on their next "big idea" to help the area. It was a long, two-and-a-half year journey, through COVID, supply chain issues, construction delays, and working full time jobs, but Pleasant Prairie Brewing and Taproom opened on July 16, 2022. Carrying over from his homebrewing days, Ben brews every batch with a focused attention on quality. And in the greater context, the Foslands believe in the continued vitality and resilience of northeast Montana. They’re committed to producing high quality beer, which goes hand-in-hand with the work of growing the area economy. The brewery and taproom will continue to fulfill its purpose as a community center and a way to attract new people to the area.
