About
Overlook Farm is less than a mile off Interstate 81 in the town of Cortland, NY, a college town (SUNY Cortland). There is an RV/automotive repair, Hartley's, at the bottom of the hill from me; they are very helpful and friendly. The Super Walmart in town is open 24hrs, and a wonderful drive-through coffee place, "Coffee Mania", is 2 miles away. And there's always Starbuck's, " Brand X ". This is in the Finger Lakes region. There are so many wineries within an hour. It is a lot of fun to do a winery tour, especially with a designated driver! Even just 3 wineries/day is a fun trip. Often there is food available. Sometimes, we've taken a cooler with our favorite picnic foods. All the wineries are on hillsides overlooking the lakes, so there are wonderful views. Also over the last 5 years, there has been a burgeoning micro brewery industry here. Just within 10 miles of my place there are 4 breweries! One site says there are 85 craft breweries in the finger lakes region. Food-wise, my favorites are Hollenbeck's Cider Mill, where you can get really good apple pies as well as cider, and Bob's Barbeque, a road-side barbeque set in a park that Bob has landscaped himself. We have authentic Mexican and Lebanese restaurants besides the usual American fare. Ithaca is 25 miles from here, if you're interested in looking at Cornell, Ithaca College, or a more eclectic mix of restaurants, including the storied Moosewood Restaurant, a vegetarian restaurant started in 1973. State University of NY College at Cortland has both undergraduate and graduate programs. They are best know for their Education and Professional Studies programs ( teachers and sports professions) Their college athletics are huge and they are highly ranked. The Cornell campus is HUGE and there are so many interesting buildings to see. I love going to the Cornell Botanic Gardens, part of the agricultural college, which features 25 acres of plants and herbs, as well as an incredible green building (LEED-NC 2.2 Gold certified) as the Welcome Center which also has a gift shop and classrooms. Ithaca College, originally Ithaca Conservatory of Music, on the other hill, is known for its music school, physical education and film school. There is plenty of wood here, no need to purchase, FREE!! Time to trim the overhead trees again!

HOST
I am retired so I love to travel with my R-pod and my dogs as well as doing wilderness camping alone or with friends. I am also a host with a 12 acre farm, so that takes WORK. But I love it. It is fun being a host; everyone has been so friendly. You should try it!

Parking & Arrival
The entrance is the second driveway at the end of the stone wall which goes up between the house and the barn and circles around to exit onto the street at the end of the driveway. There are 2 nice flat spots, one of which is in front of the barn. There is a vehicle parking spot just below, in front of the tractor barn. You can drive on the grass if need be, and in the summer, there are spots in the fields and under trees that are nice but you won't have power. There are stone walls and lots of trees. While I try to keep them cut back, bigger rigs will have to be careful. Therefore, I am decreasing the size I can accommodate to 33 feet. My last wonderful guests had a 36 ft rig and thank god they had a pole saw close at hand.
