About
We have eight acres of land in the city limits of Chapel Hill next to a city park with two dog parks (one for little dogs). Much of our land is open pasture land with a farm pond and wooded areas. We live across the street from county and university undeveloped land with hiking and biking trails. The University of NC campus is 10 minutes away either by car, by bike, or by free city bus service. Grocery stores are also minutes away. Duke University is about 20 minutes away by car. UNC and Duke hospitals are less than 20 minutes away. Suggested Local Attractions:University of NC, Ackland Art Museum, Morehead Planetarium (where the astronauts trained), NC Botanical Garden, Duke University, Durham Bulls Baseball. UNC and Duke Hospitals conveniently close. Many good restaurants and bars as might be expected in a university town.

Retirement lovers Details: Sylvia is a retired research scientist and Don is a retired professor of computer science. We have both been retired for more than 15 years. We love to travel, Don likes to bike and Sylvia likes to hike; Don likes wood working and Sylvia likes to go birding; we both love the outdoors and the natural world. New things still amaze us and fill us with wonder and excitement. We have 3 children and 6 grandchildren and we fear for their future in this world of changing climate and burgeoning human population but we are hopeful that they will be able to solve the world's problems that we, their elders, seem not to be able to fathom. Home Town: We live on eight acres in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, home of the UNC Tarheels. The town of Chapel Hill & the University of NC is one apex of the Research Triangle, the others being the city of Durham with Duke University and the capital city of Raleigh with NC State University. Chapel Hill is in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, half way between the Appalachian mountains and the Outer Banks. There are numerous excellent restaurants and some wonderful biking and walking trails along with many cultural opportunities and sporting events that one would expect in a university town.
