Harvest Hosts members are welcome and encouraged to visit Sylvan Heights Bird Park as part of their stay. The park admission fee covers self-guided tours of the park's walk-through aviaries and gardens, allowing you to get face-to-beak with some of the world's rarest birds. We recommend allotting at least two hours to experience the entire park. View current park admission rates at https://www.shwpark.com. For a more in-depth visit, guided tours are available by advance reservation for an additional fee. Please call us at (252) 826-3186 to request a guided tour at least two weeks before your stay. The Sylvan Heights Bird Park Visitor Center has a gift shop featuring bird and nature-themed apparel, home goods, toys, jewelry, art, and more. An on-site Cafe serving sandwiches, hot dogs, and snacks is open during the spring, summer, and fall. The Cafe is located in the park. Sylvan Heights Bird Park is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donations help us continue our conservation and education programs!
Parking & Arrival
When approaching the park on Sylvan Heights Park Way, please follow the signs to turn left into the bus parking/additional parking area. Do not continue straight into the main parking area. During the park’s hours of operation, please park in a single parking space (or as few spaces as possible) in the additional parking lot, or in the grass behind the picnic tables. Please do not block the electric vehicle charging station. Follow the walking path to the log cabin visitor center, and check in at the ticket window. Between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., you are welcome to move your vehicle anywhere in the gravel parking area, or in the grass behind the picnic tables.
