About
Campsite area is 25 feet wide and 35 feet deep. There is a stone fire ring and a web rider swing installed. We have been told by our guests that cell service at the site is good. Many past guests with different carriers have been able to work from their rig while at our site. We also offer wifi. We live on the side of White Oak Mountain on 14 acres at 1,080 feet in elevation. You will be able to get a view of the mountain from your campsite. You can listen to Ostin Creek from your campsite and take a short trail down to the same creek to chill. We are surrounded by the Green River Gamelands so our space is quiet, green (well seasonally anyway), and heavily forested. If you like being in nature, this is the place for you! Mountain Cove Hiking Trail: We created a trail nearly a mile long on our 14 acres which takes you to our little waterfall and our creeks. The trail is well blazed and many trees along the way have silver identification tags. There is also a self-guided handout you can carry along with you as you hike to learn the history of our property. A notebook is provided with identified flora organized by date that it blooms on our property. Sharing Cabin: At your camp spot we have built a little "cabin" with materials to share. Please find the Guest Book and fill out a page. There is also a take-a-book, leave-a-book sharing library and a rock painting activity included in the "cabin". We encourage our guests to find a rock in one of our creeks, paint it and leave it on display for other guests to enjoy. Local maps and information are provided in this "cabin" as well, for your convenience. Suggested Local Attractions: Just 2 miles down the road from us are 2 large waterfalls with trails to access both. These are called Little Bradley and Big Bradley. You can take a drive up White Oak Mountain, 3000 feet, and sit on Sunset Rock to get a great sunset view of the mountains and on the way up stop and see Shunkawauken Falls (which means sky-water). Directions and tips on the drive/hike to the Bradley waterfalls and/or the drive up White Oak Mountain to see Shunkawauken and Sunset Rock are provided in the camper cabin. Pearson's Falls is a 90 foot, very lovely, pay to see waterfall 20 minutes away, owned by the Tryon Garden Club. The Gorge Zip-line in Saluda will take you down 1000 feet, over 11 zips with views of the Green River Gorge. Chimney Rock State Park is a short drive away, in Lake Lure, and features great views and wonderful hikes (there is even an elevator). Another fun thing to see in Lake Lure is the Flowering Bridge which is a decommissioned road bridge landscaped by volunteers and is always in bloom. One of our favorite hikes is called Bearwallow Mountain in Gerton, about 45 minutes away, trail maintained by Conserving Carolina. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville are just 50 minutes away. All the information you need for any of these activities is easily found online and some of this information is provided in the camper cabin. Nearest Dump Station: Silver Creek Campground, 2 miles away, $15 (but our last few guests were charged nothing and this campground has new owners and is under construction) but the driveway to get to the dump station is on top of a steep hill and if you are in a larger rig you might have difficulty turning around.
