Small ranch on 1/2 acre close to downtown Raleigh. We have a screened porch, fire pit, and outdoor sauna to share. Kayak(s) may also be available to borrow. We can likely accommodate slide-outs depending on how you park- let us know if you need specific parking arrangements and we will move our cars accordingly. A dump station is ~2 miles away at the Fairgrounds. Suggested Local Attractions: NCSU, Pullen Park, Dorothea Dix Park, Umstead Park (hiking), many local lakes for kayaking, Arboretum, downtown Raleigh, Art museums, Raleigh City Farm, local breweries, NC State Fairgrounds, etc------ there's SO much to do around us! A nearby bike path leads you to downtown *Communication may be delayed while Andi is caring for a relative out of state. Advance notice recommended*

Couchsurfers turned Boondockers Details: Our home base is in Raleigh, NC, close to NCSU. We recently (9/2021) and somewhat spontaneously bought a small class C to spend quality time with a terminally ill family member in FL as we pursue their bucket list adventures. James will be holding down the fort in Raleigh and setting up a 30A outlet while Andi and her siblings rotate stays in FL. We all love finding ways to explore nature and observe wildlife so will likely have kayaks +/- bikes strapped to the RV and binoculars on hand. We love meeting people through Couchsurfing whenever traveling so looking forward to hosting/staying w/ folks now that we're in the RV club :) Favorite Boondocking Locations: TBD ;) Skills or Expertise to Share: James plays nearly every string, percussion, or electronic instrument, prior contractor, and is a wonderful conversationalist. He built a music studio in our garage and is always up for a jam session. Andi is a veterinary pathologist in training and prior field ecologist, educator, and zoologist who incorporates vet-med and wildlife study into her travels whenever and wherever possible. We have field guides and binoculars to lend. We nearly completely renovated our "handyman special" home so can likely lend/help with non-mechanical repairs.

House Rules

-if traveling with a dog, they can rotate use our fenced-in dog yard w/ our dogs but please avoid dog-dog interactions that involve contact as one of our small dogs is territorial. - Common sense stuff: clean up after pet, make sure fire is out before turning in, leave space for the mail person if parking on the street

Parking & Arrival

Access Road Conditions: The home is at the base of a hill that can be difficult to ascend during icy conditions (rare in our region). Will need to back in or out of our gravel driveway that is flanked by tall pines (some recently removed so easier access now). If possible, we will move our car to the street to hold space for you to pull in since the public on-street parking can hinder maneuverability into the driveway; connect w/ us via phone to plan ahead if needed. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: May need to detach the tow vehicle if our RV is on site. Street parking is always available. We're building a new parking space in the front yard that may accommodate a class B but likely a tow vehicle.
