About
Two hours from Knoxville, two hours from Atlanta, two hours from Nashville, this is an "out in the sticks" location that's just a mile off the highway. Quiet, rural neighborhood except for when the hunting dogs across the field see their dad coming with their supper then it's ON for a full five minutes. Occasionally you'll hear a train as the tracks are 1/2 mile away, but they're not loud enough to keep you awake. You actually feel them more than hear them. (I thought the vibration was a quiet little earthquake when we first moved in.) Lots of grass and trees and bees. Just a little place out in the country.
Suggested Local Attractions:Dayton, Tennessee (five miles north) is where the Scopes monkey trial was held. Chattanooga (twenty miles south) is where the Battle of Lookout Mountain took place during the Civil War. It's also home to Point Park, the Tennessee Aquarium, The Chattanooga Choo-Choo, several craft breweries, the Tennessee Riverwalk, the Southern Belle Riverboat, paddle boarding, kayaking, white water rafting. Look, if you like rivers you're gonna love this place cause we are obsessed with our river and we use it every chance we get.
The Chickamauga Battlefield is 43 miles south. Tons of Civil War history where we live. Riverbend - a huge music festival - takes place downtown in June. (I know! Again with the River!) The Blythe's Ferry Cherokee Removal Memorial site is 21 miles northeast. Red Clay State Park - the last seat of the Cherokee National government before the Cherokee Removal Act of 1830 - is 43 miles south. If you can't find something to do or see or experience around here then I don't know what to tell you other than you need more help than one southern woman and a jar of sweet tea can provide. And one southern woman with a jar of sweet tea can help a whole lot of things.
