About
My home is on a large lot in a nice area of town. I can accommodate a large rig with toad at my front curb where a dump is available. A rig parked with the wheels within 18" of the curb is within the approved parking for any vehicle in front of a house. Also, my driveway is fairly wide, but a bit 'steep' for longer rigs, and could accommodate up to a 34' rig if the toad is unhooked, or a 5th wheel if you are skilled in 'backing up'! Parking in the driveway offers shade and more privacy. Parking either in the driveway OR at the curb will provide one electric outlet, water supply, and a dump for your tanks when you arrive or depart. You will need LONGER electric cords, water hose, and TV cable unless you are able to park your rig in my driveway, depending on the height of your rig off of the ground. Rigs riding close to the ground may have difficulty getting into my driveway. The driveway area is partly shaded, but the curb is full-sun, and if you don't have a long electric cord, you could probably run a 'quiet' generator successfully. I have a large shaded front porch, and a secure, fenced back yard for your pet to exercise under your supervision. My neighbors have been wonderful, and never mention my visitors, so I want to be careful and protect the privilege of providing my traveling friends a nice safe place to sleep in a good area of town, without any worries! See my 'personal profile' about 'me' and you will find lots of great information about what Mt. Pleasant, Texas has to offer a traveler!!

HOST
Part-time Class A traveling lady, 71, with home on I-30 between Texarkana & Dallas, TX, who loves pets, and new friends who value the RVing lifestyle! Details: My RV friends call me 'Becky'. I hope you will, too! I began the RV lifestyle with my elderly father in 1998, and he taught me well. I belong to Good Sam's, FMCA, S.I., LoW's, Escapees, RV-Singles, Freeroaders, and some other organizations. Now that I'm 'all grown up', the lure of the open road often calls my name, and I love all types of travel, especially boon-docking, campfires, and laughter. Over the past 14 years of part-time solo travel in my rig, I have been on every type of 'road', climbed many mountains, slept in many unlikely places, and found some life-long friends. I can stay in a fancy campground and enjoy their amenities, or stay in a remote area where the only light comes from the moon, and easily fall asleep under the silent stars! Mt. Pleasant is located 112 miles east of Dallas, TX, on Interstate 30. It's considered a small town, but has enough amenities to make most people comfortable. Within 2-3 miles you can find propane, diesel, and other shopping areas with well-known stores and restaurants. My home is within walking distance of a city park with jogging and hiking trails for you and your pets. We have a variety of churches and organizations if you are interested in any of those activities. One of my best friends is an RV service tech who has worked for large RV dealerships, and will make 'house-calls' if his (& your) schedule permits, which has been very helpful for some of my traveling buddies. Another of my friends is highly cooperative with most of the road-side service clubs/organizations, and has provided some emergency help for several of my RVing friends! Both of these people are regarded highly in the community and have reasonable pricing. The city of Mt. Pleasant allows RV parking at the curb in front of a home as long as the wheels are within 18 inches of the curb, and slide-outs are not on the street's side, and not blocking the mailboxes. My home is located in a nice quiet neighborhood about a mile from Walmart, Home Depot, Chili's, and various family restaurants, automotive and convenience stores. My rig is parked in the back of my wide, partly shaded driveway, but there is room for another rig, also. If you have a tow vehicle, it would be necessary to unhook it to get your rig into and out of my driveway, unless it is a 5th wheel. Otherwise, you can park in front of my home at the curb. I can usually provide one electrical outlet and a city water supply if you have the necessary extensions and hoses. There is a place to dump your tanks on my front curb when you arrive or leave. My back yard is well-fenced with lots of space for your pet to exercise under your supervision, roam safely in the wooded area, or toss a Frisbee. I will happily kennel my pets during that time for your pet's enjoyment. I would request that you pick up after your pet and stay with them to protect my 'flower beds'. If you have a 'receiver' and long cable, you are welcome use my Direct-TV dish located beside my RV. You are welcome to use my wireless internet ! (NOTE: Internet, cable, and some amenities 'travel' with me, and might not always be available.) My neighbors have never complained when my friends parked their RV in front of my home overnight, or in my driveway for a few days, but I take care to avoid annoying them with loud music or noises. If you can't use my electricity, a fairly quiet generator would probably not be a problem. Depending on your 'travel style' and personal preferences, (and my schedule), we can take time to visit, or keep our individual schedules as soon as you are 'settled in' and comfortable with the available parking for your rig. I will happily try to help you locate places of interest, lakes for fishing, a movie theater, or other things you may need during your stay. I would always appreciate 'advance notice' when possible, but I totally understand a last-minute request, because I love to travel without a schedule sometimes! Unless there are unusual circumstances that would be a great inconvenience, I would be more than happy to welcome an overnight traveling RV friend! Home Town: I have a brick and stick home in Mt. Pleasant, Texas with a large driveway and many amenities in case you would like to stop and stay a while! Favorite Boondocking Locations: Bureau of Land Management - anywhere 'The Slabs' - Niland, California Quartzsite, Arizona Roadside Rest Areas Casinos Truck Stops Mom and Pop Restaurants Boat ramps Secret Fishing Holes Alongside a car dealership on weekends In front of houses 'under construction' City Parks where permitted Around any campfire 'Anywhere, U.S.A. Skills or Expertise to Share: If you promise not to tell jokes about Texas Aggies, I will promise not to tell any lies about my 'skills' or 'expertise'! I love to cook, and I may invite you to enjoy some 'southern cooking', but you aren't obligated to eat it. I can tell you all about cattle and ranching, and take you out to see the livestock, but I am likely to burn your steak! You are welcome to try out my solar oven, or my BBQ grill, but I cook like my grandmothers and my mom, ...... a pinch of this, a dash of that, so I don't do well with instructions!

Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: Good paved roads, stop lights, a few 'dips' require a tiny bit of slower driving for a couple of blocks. PULL-THROUGH vehicles will need to park in front of my house, within 18" of the curb, slide-out opposite of street side, over my property. Curb-side parking is permitted for 1-2 days, 'as guests', and very long electric cords, water hose, and 'cable' will be necessary to access Direct-TV dish, water, and electricity. Electricity may require adaptor from large to 'small' house plug on front porch. Grilling, and lawn chairs would need to be up by the house in the shade, not on the front lawn. Grill is available in back yard. My wide driveway will accommodate a rig with unhooked tow vehicle, because the initial entry has a slightly steep assent, but levels out afterward. My 33" Southwind can safely access my driveway with ease, but it has larger tires and rides 'high', not scraping curbs. That decision can be made upon your arrival.
