About
Located in Oak Harbor, Washington, you'll find this stopover refreshing and relaxed with views of the Puget Sound, Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains, abundant deer, rabbits, raptors, and the call of the wild. You'll hear the US Navy EA-18G Growler and the P-8 Neptune jets roar in the distance coming and going doing Navy things and listen to quiet sounds of the bugle at sunset when the US Flag is lowered at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Deception Pass and the State Park are the premier attractions on Whidbey Island and are easily accessible to the North. Fort Casey and Fort Eby to the South offer breathtaking marine views, and you should visit the Admiralty Head Lighthouse. Both Forts Casey and Ebey offer a glimpse into WWII history with defensive gun batteries protecting the entry to Admiralty Inlet and the South Puget Sound and Seattle. Hike the Bluff Trail starting at Ebey's Landing State Park or from the Prairie Overlook near historic Sunnyside Cemetery. Coupeville and Oak Harbor are small harbor towns with waterfront shops and restaurants to browse and dine. Toby's Tavern in Coupeville is the iconic drop in spot for some world famous Penn Cove Shellfish or the best Ruben Sandwich on the island. Be sure to visit Captain Whidbey Inn for a glimpse of old Whidbey. There you'll find great fine dining, adult beverages with iconic views of Penn Cove, a huge dock, and maybe catch a glimpse of someone famous or a well known person and perhaps a pod of Orcas visiting the cove. Within a few hours drive, head to Seattle, Vancouver BC, the Cascade Mountains, or to the Olympic Peninsula as you're ideally located for Adventure while you're here. Break out your camp chairs and relax by the fire with your evening delights. Enjoy the fresh air in the morning with breakfast at the picnic table or create a bounty for the evening after returning from the day's adventure. Bring your axe and show off your forestry skills as you'll want to split some wood for kindling or starter sized sticks. Fall asleep in the cool of the night as the ocean breeze brings a chill to the evening's stay. Read the Reviews! You'll enjoy your visit, and your retreat from the hustle of the open road. Kick off those shoes and walk barefoot in the grass. It's a refreshing stopover. See you soon!!!
