Tucked along its namesake road with a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Golden Road Vineyards covers 25 picturesque acres in the community of State Road, just outside Elkin. The first vines were planted in 2011 by the original owners, who sold their harvests to various Yadkin Valley wineries. Chad and Crista Guebert, who have a military background, purchased the vineyards in 2017, released their first vintage in 2019 and opened the tasting room in 2020. It is a certified Homegrown by Heroes farm. Golden Road features estate wines from the following varietals: Merlot, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Petit Manseng and Traminette. The tasting room has a warm feel with ample wood accents, as well as an outside tasting area with multiple fire pits.
