Prairie Dog Pines is a, NO PET, 5-acre farm/ranch in the beautiful Oregon Outback High Desert at 4,400 ft above sea level. Looking in all four directions are million-dollar views. We've also become kind of an attraction as we are also Outback Tortoise Sanctuary and have tortoises of all kinds, sizes, and species. During the warm weather in late Spring, Summer, and early Fall they are out wandering and soaking up the sun. They love gentle pets on the shell. It's not uncommon to see the prairie dogs and birds in with the tortoises eating their veggie's. The tortoise's are put away in Winter for hibernation but come out again when it warms up in the late Spring. We may be in the middle of nowhere but if your an outdoors person its an activity feast. There are reservoirs for swimming, fishing and boating, popular areas for hunting, rock hounding, hot springs, off roading, photography, and much more. Maybe the best part is just lounging under our beautiful shade trees and enjoying watching the prairie dogs and other wildlife. We also have a pair of Great Horned owls that after dusk sit in the pine trees and hoot. So cool listening to them. After the first night we allow extended stays up to 6 days at $25/per nite and that includes water and electricity. We have a nice gift shop with prairie dog goodies and local wildlife plushies, toys and gifts. Also have snack bar with drinks and packaged snacks.
