Fun RV Camping in Minnesota

Nicknamed the land of 10,000 lakes, RV camping in Minnesota is truly spectacular. This beautiful state is best known for its popular cities, which include Minneapolis and Saint Paul (the “Twin Cities”), and Duluth, but there is so much more to see and do here. As a northern state of the Midwest, Minnesota has a thriving agricultural scene, with many farms and wineries seeking incredible innovation that allows their crops to thrive in brutal winter temperatures. In addition, travelers can visit Voyageurs National Park to the north and gain access to Isle Royale National Park of Michigan through the cities of Duluth and Grand Marais. Those with a Harvest Hosts membership can visit many beautiful and inviting locations for overnight accommodations. Pack your bags and let’s head out on a tour of the great state of Minnesota.

1. Hinterland Vineyards and Winery

Hinterland Vineyards and Winery is a fantastic winemaking location in Clara City, Minnesota. They have an awesome restaurant and winery combination that is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Reservations for dining are highly recommended. The location is beautiful and peaceful, and the winery and restaurant are just a short stroll away. There are two pet-friendly spaces available for RVs of any size.

2. Double S Alpaca Farm

Double S Alpaca Farm in Princeton, Minnesota, specializes in all things alpaca. They breed, raise, and show alpacas, always keeping their fur quality in mind. With higher quality alpaca fur, they are able to create higher quality fiber, which leads to higher quality products created from the fiber. They offer farm tours and allow guests to meet the beautiful alpacas. Their shop, the Alpaca Shacka, sells a variety of knit alpaca fiber products, including socks, hats, gloves, scarves, and more. In addition to warm-weather products, they also sell and can vegetables. RVers are welcome to stay on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and they ask that you call to reserve your space on one of these days, as well. There are three pet-friendly spaces available for RVs of any size.

3. Canosia Grove

Canosia Grove is located in the Northwoods of Minnesota, not far from the port that leads to Isle Royale National Park. This permaculture farm grows heritage-variety apples, creating cider, wine, and other apple products for sale. They also raise bees, chickens, and Icelandic sheep, selling honey, eggs, wool and lamb meat. They offer tours, tastings, a farm stand, and produce, with a picnic area and WiFi available for guest use. The setting is gorgeous and offers some of the best of the Minnesota countryside. They have one space available for an RV under thirty feet in length, and they are not pet-friendly, so please keep this in mind.

4. Legacy Courses at Cragun’s

Cragun’s is the largest year-round resort in the state of Minnesota. Located in Brainerd, Minnesota, this resort offers miles of sandy beaches, water sports on Gull Lake, a restaurant, a golf course, and many other specialties. Harvest Hosts golf members are welcomed to stay overnight at the Legacy Course, where they can play golf and enjoy the views. In addition, there is a gift shop and restaurant available, perfect for a long day on the course. This location offers two pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size.

5. Forestedge Winery

Forestedge Winery is a beautiful winery in the Northern town of LaPorte, Minnesota. This winery showcases some of the best of the Midwest with their award-winning fruit wines and available gift shop featuring local art. There are festivals in the summer, and plenty of nearby hiking and wildlife viewing. Moreover, the setting is tranquil and scenic, making this a perfect stop for those looking to get away from it all. There are four pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size available. This is the perfect stop for those wanting to sample the rugged Northern Minnesota life and enjoy some fantastic wines.

Forestedge Winery is an excellent Harvest Hosts location.

6. Doubting Thomas Farms

Doubting Thomas Farms is a fifth-generation farm located beside the gorgeous buffalo River alongside the North Dakota-Minnesota border. They have chickens and other animals and a variety of organic produce and eggs for purchase. They also grow a variety of grains for oats, including blue corn, wild rice, and wheat, creating rolled oats, fresh bread, wild rice, pancake mix, and more, from their products. Furthermore, the hosts offer educational tours of the farm, produce, hiking and wildlife viewing, a deck area, a play area for children, festivals in the summer, WiFi, and festivals in the summer. There are two spaces for any size RV available, but large dogs are not permitted. However, any other pets who live inside and small dogs are welcome.

7. Minakwa Golf Course

Last but not least, Minakwa Golf Course is one of our newer courses. This awesome golf course is located in Crookston, Minnesota, just outside of the city of Grand Forks. They have a gift shop and a restaurant available, and they require all Harvest Hosts guests to book a tee time and play a round of golf.
