A New England Summer Road Trip with Harvest Hosts

As summer 2020 officially begins, many travelers are planning RV trips to Northern states all across the US. From Washington straight across to Maine, the Northern states of the country typically receive the coldest weather from October through May. However, many of these states boast warm and sunny summer seasons, and this is particularly true for the states of New England. Between the sprawling forests, hilly mountains, rocky coastlines, and rich American history, there is so much to see and do in the Northeastern part of the country. 1. Rose’s Berry Farm - Connecticut

The first stop on our New England summer tour is at Rose’s Berry Farm in S. Glastonbury, Connecticut. All summer long, guests can expect u-pick berries seasonally, which includes blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries, as well as a farm store with lots of other fresh produce varieties. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, guests can also find a deck area, baked goods, seasonal hay rides, nearby hiking, and an excellent restaurant, serving up cozy cuisines. Harvest Hosts members tend to enjoy the views of the property and the on-site pond. This farm showcases some of the best that rural Connecticut has to offer, so be sure not to miss it.

2. Jamestown Golf Course - Rhode Island

Incorporated in 1678, Jamestown was once a part of Massachusetts Bay Colony. Later on, it became a part of the state of Rhode Island. Today, Jamestown is an excellent place to visit the coast of New England, while also allowing visitors to enjoy shops, restaurants. The town of Jamestown sits beside the popular town of Newport, Rhode Island, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations along the state’s “Classic Coast.” Harvest Hosts golf members visiting Jamestown and/or Newport are in luck! After spending the day exploring and enjoying the area, they can stay overnight at the lovely Jamestown Golf Course. This public, nine-hole golf course was opened in 1901, and its history is very apparent. There is also a restaurant available for non-avid golfers. Keep in mind that this location is only available for RVs under thirty feet in length.

3. Cape Cod Cranberry Bog Tours - Massachusetts

Cape Cod, Massachusetts has long been revered as one of the best vacation destinations in all of New England. Here, travelers can find incredible restaurants, plenty of shopping, a rich art scene, stunning beaches, and lots of opportunities for recreational, outdoor activities. It is also known for being kid-friendly, while still maintaining a great brewery and nightlife scene. Just outside of Cape Cod, you can find Cape Cod Cranberry Bog in the town of West Barnstable. Harvest Hosts members are invited to stay overnight beside the rich, red bogs, where they can also take a tour to learn about the process of cranberry farming. 4. Otter Creek Fun Center - Vermont

Those looking to add some pure fun to their lives will love this Vermont activity center. Here, guests can enjoy both mini golf and an arcade on a twenty-eight-acre property with plenty of parking space. They make homemade pizzas all day, every day, and there is also ice cream and other treats available. If you have a pet and plan to stay, please be sure to let them know ahead of time, as they only allow pets for Harvest Hosts members and not for other guests. Otter Creek Fun Center is the perfect place to rest, recharge, and have some fun before heading on to New Hampshire.

5. Twin Barns Brewing Company - New Hampshire

If you know anything about New England culture, you probably know that they take beers and brews very seriously. Twin Barns Brewing Company opened just about two years ago in the town of Meredith, New Hampshire. Almost as soon as they opened their business, the owners began welcoming Harvest Hosts members for overnight accommodations. Guests are welcomed to park their RV in the lot beside the brewery and come in for an excellent meal and a brew. Currently, they have six signature beers on tap, as well as a full menu, including appetizers, soups, entrees, burgers, and kids’ meals. When you visit, be sure to take an opportunity to meet the owners, as many previous guests have commented on their kindness and hospitality.

6. Shalom Orchard Organic Farm & Winery - Maine

Our last stop brings us to the Bar Harbor area of Maine. This beachy area offers endless scenic views, many delicious restaurants and coffee shops, tons of shopping opportunities, and plenty of water activities and other recreational activities to try. Nearby Acadia National Park is also stunning and makes for an excellent place to visit in the warm summer months. After visiting Bar Harbor, Harvest Hosts members can travel about forty minutes north to the lovely Shalom Orchard Organic Farm and Winery. Here, visitors can sample incredible wines made from a variety of fruits grown in the adjacent orchard. They also have organic produce for sale and a variety of preserves and other goods made from their produce.
