The Real Difference Between Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome and Why You Should Consider Both for Your Next Road Trip
In June we added Boondockers Welcome to the Harvest Hosts family. And in October we merged the two platforms so that Members of both communities could see all 5000+ Host locations on one, easy to navigate, map. We still have Members that are solely on one platform, which is still an option, and realize that each community is different. Harvest Hosts may not be the perfect camping style for our Boondockers Welcome Members and vice versa. Each program offers its own unique experience and perks for your next road trip, so we thought it might be helpful to explain the differences between the two programs in a quick rundown.
Harvest Hosts
Harvest Hosts provides unique experiences for RVers while supporting independent growers and attractions. Support local businesses, enjoy farm-fresh products, drink some wine, have some beer, explore museums, visit roadside oddities, play a round of golf, and stay at any of our stunning locations across the continent with zero camping fees! The annual membership gives members unlimited access to stay overnight at any one of our 2500+ Host locations.
Boondockers Welcome
Boondockers Welcome provides Members the ability to access 3,000+ locations where Hosts invite travelers to spend up to 5 nights on their property. Enjoy truly unique stay experiences often without any sacrifice to comfort as 75% of Boondockers Welcome Hosts offer hookups. You can even check out all of our Host locations prior to purchasing a membership!

Do BW host receive free membership to HH as well?
Thank you for asking! BW Hosts receive a free membership to BW only. The HH program is kept separate in terms of hosting and discounts.
Considering getting membership to Harvest Hosts. The maximum size rig at a site, does it refer to the total length of the towable trailer + tow vehicle?
For Harvest Hosts, it is the total length of the towable trailer + tow vehicle. Hope this helps!
For BW: is there a discount I can give my friends to sign up? And where is that posted so I can keep track of people I’ve signed up in BW?
We would be happy to get you signed up for our referral program. You will need to go to our chat/message feature and contact us for more information. We look forward to assisting you!
We paid memberships to harvest hosts and boondockers welcome right before you merged. We’ve updated our app but never see the boondockers hosts. What are we missing? Also how do we stop automatic renewal?
Thank you for asking!, we encourage you to reach out to us on the website at [email protected] We would be happy to assist you.
The form for Boondockers welcome has a spot for RV make/model.

We do! Vans do need to be fully self-contained.

I am a HarvestHosts member who just signed up for Boondockers. I requested a stay and after 48 hours I have to still not heard back from the host. Is that normal? I ended up having to stay in a KOA and now I’m annoyed that I paid for a year of Boondockers.

Jennifer, I am sorry to hear this happened. Please reach out to us if this ever happens so that we can follow through with the Host. We have many Hosts that do respond in a quick timely manner.
I have been doing a x Canada trip and have stayed at a number of Harvest hosts and a number of Boondockers welcome locations.
The main difference I have experienced is that the Boondockers hosts are RV people, interested in your stories and keen to assist you. They are happy to help and share with another RV traveler.
Harvest hosts, for the most part, are business people. Their main object is to makes some sales and increase the profile of their business.
While I have enjoyed my stays at HH locations, don’t expect long friendly RV chats, but sure you may have a dry site, for one night all for the cost of a bottle of wine.
