Unwinding at Lone Pine Brewing Co
Harvest Hosts is an incredibly unique RV membership program. Through this program, members are granted access to 4863+ host locations across North America for overnight accommodations with no camping fees. To support each of these businesses, members typically make a small purchase of wine or produce or whatever it is that the business is selling or offering. Locations include establishments such as farms, wineries, breweries, museums, restaurants, attractions, and more. Lone Pine Brewery is an incredible example of one of our great hosts. Located in Coastal Maine, this brewery pours unique, handcrafted beers at two different locations. Continue on to learn all about the business, its history, the operation today, and its joining of the Harvest Hosts program.
The History
Lone Pine Brewery began their business in 2016 with their first location in Portland, Maine. Later, they eventually added their Gorham location in 2017. Lone Pine has always focused on the technical processes to brewing perfect beers. They began with a few hop-forward core beers, wanting to offer something crisp and enjoyable to almost everyone without losing their New England roots. Since then, they have branched into creating seltzers and a few other types of drinks, in addition to their classic beers.
The Business Today
Today, the owners continue to expand their business to distribute their brews to sixteen states, including Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Utah, and more recently Maryland and Delaware. The even ship to overseas markets including the United Kingdom, France, and Japan.
For several years, the brewery has been recognized as being one of the fastest-growing breweries in the United States. In addition, they have also received several awards at the Great American Beer Festival. Visitors today can enjoy the indoor tasting room, as well as the beautiful outdoor patio.
Lone Pine offers a few core beers but continues to experiment with new recipes. Some of their most popular beers include their Holy Donut beer line. Portland locals (and visitors with an insider tip) know to head to The Holy Donut for their delicious breakfast offerings. These not-so-traditional donuts contain a secret ingredient: mashed Maine potatoes, which create a moist texture. The Holy Donut offers a variety of sweet and savory donuts that Lone Pine now incorporates into some of their brews.
Joining Harvest Hosts
A relatively new Harvest Hosts location, Lone Pine Brewery has continued to adapt their business model to compete with COVID-related setbacks. They offer gorgeous outdoor seating with friendly faces in the tasting room. Visitors can also consider purchasing some of their cases of beer or craft seltzer when you visit (unless you have room for a keg in your RV). Not a fan of drinks? They also offer branded glasses, pitchers, and attire that make for wonderful gifts. Please note that the Gorham location is the one participating with Harvest Hosts, so be sure you plug in the correct address and call the correct phone number for reservations. This Harvest Hosts location offers three reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size.
I personally visited this Harvest Hosts location in May of 2021 while on a New England road trip. The gorgeous outdoor setting and incredible drinks made for a lovely evening at an excellent time of year. The campsite was level and spacious, and when the business closed for the evening, it was very quiet and peaceful. I bought a case of seltzer to take with me on my travels, and I am still enjoying these from time to time.
Lone Pine Brewery is an incredible Maine Harvest Hosts location, excellently displaying the uniqueness of the Harvest Hosts experience. Be sure to stop by on your next trip through Coastal New England.
