Visiting Snow Pond Farm
Harvest Hosts is an incredibly unique RV membership program. Through this program, members are granted access to over 4850+ host locations across North America for overnight accommodations with no camping fees. To support each of these businesses, members typically make a small purchase of wine or produce or whatever it is that the business is selling or offering. Locations include establishments such as farms, wineries, breweries, museums, restaurants, attractions, and more to break up the RV park stays. Snow Pond Farm is an excellent example of one of our awesome hosts. Located in Windham, New Hampshire, this small farm raises alpacas and chickens for fiber and eggs (respectively). Continue on to learn all about the farm, its history, the business today, and its joining of the Harvest Hosts program.
The History
While on vacation, owners Bob and Pam saw an advertisement to visit an alpaca farm. Knowing their grandkids would be excited, they added the stop to their itinerary. Little did they know that they would all instantly fall in love with alpacas. Shortly after that, they decided to open an alpaca farm of their own in 2007. They began clearing a few acres of their property to create a suitable area for a barn. The first alpacas arrived at the end of the year in 2008, and the rest is history.
The Business Today
Snow Pond Farm is located just outside of Nashua and is run by Bob, Pam, their daughter Wendy, and their long-time family friend Diane. Bob is in charge of purchasing supplies and mixing their feed, along with a few other maintenance and farm chore jobs. Pam runs a small childcare center out of her home and is also in charge of the gift shop. She enjoys crafts and has been learning how to knit and spin yarn to provide more handmade contributions to the storefront.
Bob and Pam’s daughter Wendy is an animal lover and works as the on-site alpaca expert. She continues to research and consult other alpaca farmers to have the most up-to-date knowledge possible. Lastly, family friend Diane has worked with Pam for over twenty years with her childcare business, so helping with the alpacas was just another part of the job! She currently assists with running the gift shop.
Their gift shop is full of alpaca products, ranging from stuffed animals to handmade hats, socks, and more. Be sure to slow down and spend ample time perusing their products. You’ll be glad you did. In addition, they sell farm fresh chicken eggs.
Joining Harvest Hosts
After joining Harvest Hosts about a year ago, they’ve had the opportunity to welcome visitors and travelers from all over to their little slice of heaven. The property is family-friendly and enjoyable for all ages. Harvest Hosts members can expect a warm welcome, a level grass site, and maybe even a visit from a rooster! This Harvest Hosts location has three reservable, pet-friendly pull thru spaces for RVs under forty-four feet in length.
I visited the beautiful Snow Pond farm in early May 2021 on my way home from a New England road trip. The property was quiet and secluded, and the animals were so fun to visit. The gift shop has so much variety, and I purchased a cute stuffed animal and a pair of comfy socks to take home with me. I would absolutely return on a future trip!
Snow Pond Farm is an awesome Harvest Hosts location, perfectly displaying the incredible Harvest Hosts experience. Be sure to stop by on your next trip through New Hampshire.
