House Rules
Farmstead Policies Black Walnut Farms seeks to re-introduce you to Nature’s gifts. Here is a place to feel the earth beneath your feet, to sense the air & sun touching your skin, to breathe with an animal or a plant, to see the tiny & grand wonders of Creation; and to kindle your creative spirit. Our agritourism is created as a retreat from lifestyle stressors, opportunities to expand awareness & knowledge, and refreshment for body & soul! The following policies are set for our farmstead to help us all support these intentions & to keep all living things on the property healthy and safe …. BOUNDARIES … We are not set up as a petting zoo; but rather as a space to view and ask questions, to learn and watch the antics of our fun and sweet critters. Now, having said that our goats will surely climb the fence to meet you. They are exceedingly gregarious and curious! Our alpacas, however; while very curious, really prefer not to be touched and like a low-key energy around them. Still, they’ll likely peek through a fence to say hi! • Please don’t expect to enter pastures and animal habitats. • Please do not pursue/chase our birds. Birds do not like to be chased and it can stress them out. Please allow them to come to you and share this info with your children as well. BATHROOM? … We provide an outdoor “porta jon” with a handwashing port for your convenience. NOT ALLOWED … For the safety of all of Nature and of our animals, we do not allow balloons, tobacco products, vaping, chewing gum, outside treats for animals or yourselves, (no food or drink please,) littering, or any other animals on the property. (For those of you at the campground, some of these are fine there but not in the animal & garden areas.) However, we are a mask-free space so enjoy breathing fresh Bullock Creek air! (By the way, did you know that lichenthrivese in clean/healthy air? – and that we are fortunate to have many, many colonies of lichen all over the farmstead … so good air prevails here!)
Items to Purchase
Our Country Store & Tiny Tea Room goodies vary based in what's growing, what artisans are sharing, & what time allows us to make. You might find something there. You might choose to pay for a Guided Walking Tour, join any classes if offered at the time of the stay, or simply offer a donation. We're new and growing .... Much more to come!
