About
As dawn breaks over the Shenandoah Valley, RV campers at this storied farm wake to a scene steeped in history, with the mist lifting off rolling hills and the peaceful neighs of horses mingling with the morning breeze. Just a stone's throw from the convenience of Interstate 81, this RV camping retreat invites travelers to hitch their homes-on-wheels on the very ground that once bore the weight of Civil War battles. Allow the expansive mountain views to be your canvas as you find serenity walking through fields that narrate stories of yesteryears. This historic farm, cradling a narrative stretching back to the 18th century, opens its gates to campers looking to bask in the glory of nature and history combined. As the day unfolds, guests might explore the grounds where Union cavalry once stood their ground during the pivotal Battle of Cedar Creek. With historical markers detailing these moments, RV enthusiasts can immerse themselves in a living history lesson, all while enjoying modern-day camping amenities like a cozy fire pit for those clear, starlit evenings (weather permitting). Horse lovers will revel in the equine companionship, as this location welcomes our four-legged friends to revel in freedom, just as RV campers take delight in their own form of liberated living. Delve deeper into history knowing that the farm buildings you see have a silent story to tella home dating back to the 1790s, a barn born from the ashes of conflict, and a land once graced by Lord Fairfax himself. Not only a sanctuary for history buffs, this location has also set the scene for cinematic endeavors, playing host to the filming of the award-winning 2019 movie short Free, offering travelers a touch of Hollywood allure amid pastoral tranquility. Before you set out on this journey through time, be mindful that RV camping here is not just a retreat but an agritourism adventure with all its inherent rusticities and charms. Understand that engaging with this slice of bucolic bliss means embracing the farm as it stands, rich in both beauty and legacy. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a unique RV camping experience, park your RV on these historic grounds and write your own chapter in this farm's enduring legacy.
