Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a Harvest Hosts stay different from a campground?

Unlike a traditional campground, there are no camping fees, and Harvest Hosts stays are centered around unique experiences and meaningful connections. You can spend the night at a winery, brewery, farm, museum, golf course, or other small business where the setting itself is part of the adventure. Many Hosts will greet you when you arrive, share their story, and invite you to explore their property — whether that means tasting wine, meeting farm animals, enjoying a local beer, or simply relaxing somewhere beautiful.

Every stay is a little different, but the experience is consistently more personal, memorable, and enjoyable than just finding a place to park for the night.

Is it safe and easy to stay at a Host location?

Absolutely. Every Host is a real, vetted small business, and each profile is loaded with photos and honest five-star reviews from Members who've stayed before — so you always know exactly where you're staying. Booking takes a few taps, your RV-friendly spot is saved just for you, and a friendly Host is expecting you when you roll in. Unique places, genuine peace of mind, zero guesswork.

Do you really get unlimited overnight stays at Host locations throughout North America?

You really do. 9,500+ Hosts across 49 US states and 10 Canadian provinces, yours to visit as many times as you want. Stay somewhere new every single night and it would still take over 13 years to see them all — that's a whole lot of sunsets ahead of you.

Harvest Hosts works because it's built around supporting small businesses, not charging nightly camping fees. When you stay at a winery, farm, brewery, golf course, or museum, your Membership gives you access to overnight stays — and many Members choose to support their Host by purchasing wine, produce, beer, gifts, or experiences during their visit.

It's a win-win: you discover unforgettable places to stay, and local businesses get new customers and extra exposure. No crowded parking lots, no cookie-cutter campgrounds — just unique experiences, welcoming Hosts, and thousands of memorable stops across North America.

Do Hosts have hookups?

Many do, yes! Filter for electric or water, and you'll find Hosts offering hookups for a small fee. Plug in, settle back, and soak up the experience.

How often and long can I stay?

Your Membership gives you access to unlimited overnight stays with no camping fees at Hosts across the network. Most stays are for one night, but if you find a place you love, many Hosts offer extra nights (up to four total nights). You can easily filter for Hosts that allow extended stays when planning your trip.

What types of vehicles are allowed?

All self-contained RVs are welcome here — Class A, B, and C motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers, camper vans, truck campers, pop-ups, schoolies, and the car you tow behind. Expandable, clamshell, and teardrop trailers fit right in too. The only real must-have: your rig is fully self-contained, with an interior toilet and onboard waste tanks, since cooking and dumping happen inside.

Can I use a generator?

Many of our Hosts welcome generators! Since every location is different, the easiest way to plan ahead is to filter for generator-friendly Hosts — or skip the generator entirely and filter for Hosts with electric hookups.

Once you've booked, just give your Host a quick heads-up when you arrive so they can tuck you into the perfect spot, and keep it neighborly if you're parked near others.

Any discounts or perks for members?

There sure are. Your Membership unlocks savings at 1,000+ partner campgrounds through our Campground Partners Program, plus over $5,000 in discounts on camping memberships, RV gear, and more — perks that can pay for the Membership several times over.

How can I find Host locations? Are there any trip planning tools?

Finding your next stay is easy with the Harvest Hosts map and trip planning tools. Search by Host type, route, location, travel dates, hookups, extra nights, same-day stays, and more to find stops that fit your trip. You can even plan Host locations along your route from point A to point B and save your favorites for later.

Every Host profile includes photos, details, and reviews from fellow Members, so you can get a feel for the experience before you arrive. Exploring the map and discovering unique places to stay is part of the fun.

How far ahead should I book my stay?

Many Hosts allow same-day bookings, so whether you're a last-minute planner or planning months ahead, we've got you covered. Most Hosts open availability 90–180 days in advance, giving you plenty of flexibility to book whenever your travel plans come together.

What if my plans change and I can't make a stay?

Life happens — just let your Host know as early as you can, and at least 24 hours ahead, so they (and other Members) don't miss out on a spot held for you. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows can affect your Membership, and stays are one location per night. Give a little notice and everyone wins.

Are pets allowed?

Bring the whole crew — pets are welcome at 95% of Hosts. Just check the profile for any leash or off-limits areas, keep them happy, and clean up after them. Adventure's always better with your best friend riding shotgun.

If I don't drink, can I still stay at a winery or brewery?

Of course. Wineries and breweries are packed with local food, goods, and gift-shop finds — and there are thousands of farms, museums, attractions, and other non-alcoholic Hosts to explore too. Grab a snack, a souvenir, or a gift for someone back home; it's about the experience, not the glass.

How do Hosts benefit from the program?

Beautifully. There's no charge for your stay — instead, Hosts earn from Members enjoying their business, and 100% of what you spend or donate stays with them. We never take a cut. Every single stay is a small win for a small business.

What are the parking areas like?

The parking areas are all suitable for RVs and are safe — they have been vetted by the Hosts and other Members. Every Host profile explains the surface or setting of each spot with Member photos and reviews so you'll know exactly what to expect.

Are memberships based on calendar year or 365 days?

A full 365 days from the day you join, renewing on that same date each year. A whole year of open road, however you choose to spend it.

What type of insurance does my RV need?

Just keep your RV insured and proof of coverage with you — the same peace of mind you'd want for a home or a car, now for your home on wheels. As with any stay, Hosts aren't responsible for damage, theft, or injury, so a current policy keeps every adventure worry-free.

Brewery stay at Grain-to-Glass Farm Distillery

This is a great Harvest Host. The parking here is great 4 big level rv spots. The distillery is across the street. We enjoyed a few cocktails and purchased a bottle of their moonshine. Staff was friendly. We would recommend this place.

We had a great nights sleep. The rooster made sure we woke up :). The host was very kind and we had a nice visit. We got some farm fresh eggs and some homemade jam. Delicious. The 30amp electric worked great and we were thankful for as it was in the 90’s. There is a narrow fence area to come through, but very doable. We are in a 45 foot super C, towing a jeep, and had plenty of clearance. Remember this is a working farm, don’t expect manicured landscaping. The animals were all beautiful and sweet that we met.

Lovely meadery and farm. They were so accommodating with a tasting even though we came just before closing. The farm is beautiful and we were lucky to have it to ourselves. Added bonus of a dog park too! The mead is delicious! Make sure you follow the directions they give and not Google Maps.

I always like to stop here on my way home at the end of the summer. You will find great sourdough bread, fresh eggs, and other fun things in their store. This trip my off-grid system failed so I had to leave early. However, I look forward to my next trip here. Lot's of room to park in the field and quiet nights. Wonderful family. I love it here. You will too!
