TL;DR: Visit Train Mountain Railroad Museum, the world's largest miniature railroad, for an unforgettable experience with 36 miles of track in Oregon. Harvest Hosts Members can donate, volunteer, and enjoy unique family-friendly activities like pumpkin patch rides.
Nestled in south-central Oregon, Train Mountain Railroad Museum proudly holds the title of the world's largest miniature railroad, featuring an impressive expanse of 36 miles of 7.5-gauge track.
The rhythmic chug of the locomotive, the clickety-clack of the wheels, and the picturesque surroundings create an unforgettable experience for enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. Immerse yourself by taking a self-guided walking tour through the outdoor museum.
Joyce Merwin, Office Manager of Train Mountain Railroad Museum, shared that they have enjoyed interacting with Harvest Hosts Members. “We meet a lot of really nice people from a lot of different places,” she said. “We have been a Host for about five years and have enjoyed every minute of it.”
Merwin especially enjoys hosting families. “A family with a young daughter went on the train to the pumpkin patch one October,” she said. “She came back snuggling a child-size pumpkin and wearing the biggest smile!”
Members show their support of the museum in many ways, whether through donations or buying items in the store. Merwin shared that some have even become volunteers. “Members enjoyed their visit so much they became museum members,” she said. “They are among the liveliest and best of all of our wonderful volunteers!”
So whether you're a railroad enthusiast or simply seeking a unique outdoor experience, Train Mountain Railroad Museum is a must-visit during your Harvest Hosts travels.
