About
Nestled a mile and a half from the base of Greenhorn Mountain (12k+ feet), about 35 miles south of Pueblo, Colorado, Bux Homestead provides a peaceful, scenic, and laid-back oasis at 6,900 feet elevation. Our closest neighbors are cows, deer, and horses. Accessing the Homestead is easy, just 10 miles off I-25, over relatively flat, mostly paved, well-maintained rural roads. Nearby are hiking trails and local visitor attractions, with close proximity to state parks and national forests. Your welcome includes big smiles and a treat from Trixie's Mountain Kitchen*. We do have some flexibility with rig size, and look forward to welcoming you to Bux Homestead. We'll leave the light on! Please Note: Bux Homestead is situated in the rural countryside. Our property is often frequented by grazing deer, small families of cats, foxes, racoons, and skunks, an occasional foraging brown bear when not in hibernation and, very rarely, a mountain lion that may venture this far out from Greenhorn Mountain. We are home to a variety of bird species, and provide homemade nectar for an active population of hummingbirds in the spring and summer. We are perennially and joyfully surrounded by cows that moo, horses that whinny, donkeys that bray, sheep that bleat, dogs that bark, chickens that cluck, and roosters that cock-a-doodle-doo. This was THEIR home first, and we have no control over where they freely roam or how much or how little animal sounds they make. While we invite and encourage everyone to enjoy the surrounding wildlife from a safe distance, we also respect if these inherent sounds of nature may suggest a different consideration for your stay. We want everyone and every living thing to feel at home at the Homestead. Please Also Note: When traveling to or from the Homestead on CO 165, as well as on local roads, PLEASE watch out for deer, which are quite abundant year-round in our rural area, particularly active during dawn and dusk hours, graze often along the roadside, and don't think twice about either sauntering across or darting out into the road because, you know, the grass is always greener... Really, please be careful. *Kindly advise of travelers with sensitivities to gluten or dairy, which I am happy to accommodate when preparing your treat. Many thanks.
