We are located on the beautiful Barre (Massachusetts) Common, with a large private parking lot, and walking distance to restaurants, shops, a library, a theater, churches, a gas station, and acres of shared Common space in the center of our rural town. We are a non-profit private organization, established in 1909, gaining a presence on Barre Common in 1961 by purchasing the two-story stately, four-column Elias residence which holds many of the treasured collections. Behind the Society, in the post and beam Museum, the collections continue including the 1859 12-person Concord Coach, Allen Room, Carter Stevens Room, and Senator Brewer Collection. The Heritage Center offers office space and additional collections of Barre High, the First Parish Church and Barre Savings Bank. So much to see, so close by!
