If you are "Boycotting Biloxi" please let the mayor know at mayor@biloxi.ms.us Be sure to mention the revenues the city is losing as you pass up the city and stay elsewhere.   ***Update 1: The city of Biloxi summoned my wife and I to court, wherein the judge threatened both of us with 1 year in jail and/or $1000 per offense if we were found in violation of the charged code violations. Three lawyers in town said the city would win the guest house violations because of how broadly the ordnance is written. Thus, on 6/7/2024, my wife and I agreed to not host BoonDockers Welcome guest in order to have the city drop the violations. I believe that the guest house ordnance, LDO 23-4-4-C(8)(D)(4) is unconstitutionally broad because it is not narrowly drafted to accomplish the legislative purpose because it criminalizes routine non-criminal activity like letting your kids stay in a pop-up camper in the back yard or allowing visiting relatives/friends/guests staying in a RV overnight on your property. The ordnance is taking property owners 5th amendment rights away under the color of law. At this point changing the ordnance is the best hope to right this wrong, but doing so will be a long and drawn-out process. *** Original: City of Biloxi served me a Notice of Violation on 5/4 asserting that, because I receive donations, I am running a business, need a business license, etc. There were several other alleged code infractions such as a person staying in their own RV on my land is staying in a "guest cottage", no sewer connection to the RV, and more. Thus, until I get this straightened out, I am blocking all reservations and have completely shut down my BoonDockers Welcome site and am not hosting. I hate for your inconvenience of not being able to stay here in this safe location. The city should hate the loss of revenue all you BW members bring to the local economy when you stay in this area instead of just passing through Biloxi. Site info: We are only 1 mile north of I-10 and have very easy access to the highway and our spot--even for the biggest rigs. We have a big gravel parking area in our side yard.
