About
A little about us... Hi, my name is Jeanette and my husband is Jeff. In January 2020 we purchased a 7.5 acre track of land just before the height of covid-19. During this time while businesses were shut down and families were asked to remain home, we began to work diligently towards establishing what is known today as Agape Farm of Watha. Although, that wasn't always the plan. The original plan did not include anything more than to build our dream home and retire. It was to be a place for our grandkids to enjoy four-wheelers and to learn all about country life! However, God had a different plan. Instead of giving us our dream home and retirement, he gave us a very cozy "barndominium" and enlarged our borders with new found friends who most have quickly become like family! In late 2021, we began opening up our farm to the public. Along with meeting new friends, we believe we were given the unique opportunity to play a small part in helping old friends to reconnect who had been separated due to the pandemic. We host three "large" events during the year. One in the spring, fall and at Christmas. In addition, we offer daily farm tours, birthday parties, family reunions, and other events such as sip and paint for adults and pet and paint events for kids! All of our events are alcohol free. We have t-shirts and other merchandise for sell which helps to offset the cost of our animals. There's something about waking up to hearing cows moo-ing, chickens clucking and our resident and oh so attention demanding donkey saying, "good morning"! You might be surprised to know that we actually have two donkeys on the farm. Marcell, our attention craving one is always ready to let you know he's around. His partner, Claude, is the strong silent type. Although, Marcell, thinks he is the only one who deserves all the attention, we have goats, and Scotty, our Highland "Coo" who gives him a run for the attention! So the mornings are pretty cool around the farm and our farm friends are welcome to come along aside us as we feed and water the animals. However, I would be amiss if I didn't mention our sunsets! They are truly amazing! I do believe we have some of the most beautiful ones here in the country! Take a beautiful sunset and add some cool farm animals that can only add up to a wonderful evening! Our farm is easy to find as it partially borders I-40 and is about 40 miles north of the edge of Wilmington, NC. Within minutes of the farm there are grocery, clothing and hardware stores, restaurants, laundry facilities and entertainment. Everything you might need as you travel can be found within a 30-40 mile radius of the farm. If you are traveling to the southeast coast of North Carolina, Wilmington is one of the most sought after destinations! With its beautiful beaches, historic downtown waterfront dining along with many fine museums, the USS Battleship North Carolina and the picturesque gardens there's something for everyone! However, don't spend all your time in Wilmington because there's so much to see in the area! Located only minutes away from the farm in Rose Hill is Duplin Winery, North Carolina's oldest winery! Take a tour, visit their gift shop or do a little wine tasting. Rose Hill is also home to the world's largest frying pan! Just a short drive in the opposite direction you'll find Miller's Pond in Rocky Point. There you can launch your kayak or canoe, enjoy a half mile nature walk, take advantage of the picnic shelter and let the children enjoy the playground. For the golfer in your family, River Landing hosts two top courses for eastern NC along with many other prestigious golf courses within 30-45 minutes of the farm. We invite you to come visit with us at the farm where you'll enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, learn about farm life and hopefully, you'll be able to say: "It was a good day on the farm!"
