Gasstrom Farm
Harvest Hosts is an incredibly unique RV membership program. Through this program, members are granted access to 4853+ host locations across North America for overnight accommodations with no camping fees. To support each of these businesses, members typically make a small purchase of wine or produce or whatever it is that the business is selling or offering. Locations include establishments such as farms, wineries, breweries, museums, restaurants, attractions, and more. Gasstrom Farm is an incredible example of one of our awesome hosts. Located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, this operation raises and produces fresh beef and also sells local honey.

The History
After leaving New York City, Glen Gasstrom has lived in Ilion for forty years. Up until 2020, Glen’s son Grant, ran his own micro brewery on site. Interestingly enough, Grant and his friend Matt originally planned to solely grow and sell hops, but not to produce any beer. Upon harvesting their first crop in 2015, friends and family encouraged Grant and Matt to brew their own beer. Striving to keep things as simple as possible, they decorated a restored sugar shack with things mostly found around the farm, including tables made from a fallen ash tree. In 2017, Crazy Williez formally opened, but unfortunately, the brewery closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Business Today
Today, Glen continues to raise cows for beef and sells his cuts out of the former brewery. Throughout the year, they refresh their beef inventory but typically keep a good selection on hand. They almost always have ground beef and select cuts of steak available for purchase. The ribs and premium cuts are typically the first to go due to the high demand from locals. Glen typically has a good mental inventory of available beef and can answer questions about the stock over the phone. They also sell harder-to-find beef products such as organs, tongue, and oxtail, with local honey and eggs occasionally available as well.
Joining Harvest Hosts
An RVer himself, Glen strives to be as hospitable as possible to all of his Harvest Hosts members. Gasstrom Farms has been with the Harvest Hosts program since 2019 and continues to welcome travelers from all over. They offer electric and water hookups for a small fee, as well as the option to dry camp if desired. A short hike up the nearby hillside treats visitors to sweeping views of the Adirondack Mountains and farmlands below. This Harvest Hosts location offers three reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size, and those who arrive earliest in the day are most likely to snag one of the two sites with hookups.
I visited this lovely farm in May 2021 after leaving New England and beginning to head west. Glen was so kind and hospitable, and I purchased several delicious cute of beef to take home with me. I highly recommend clearing some freezer space before stopping here – you’ll be glad you did!
Gasstrom Farm is an awesome East Coast Harvest Hosts location, excellently displaying the uniqueness of the Harvest Hosts experience. Be sure to stop by on your next trip through upstate New York.
