TL;DR: Harvest Hosts offers unique RV stays at places like Green Hill Farm, where guests enjoy serene settings, support local businesses, and experience farm life and fresh produce.

Gathering at Green Hill Farm

Harvest Hosts is a unique RV membership program with a large network of available hosts. So far, 5195 locations have opened their hearts and their homes and/or businesses to members of the Harvest Hosts RVing community. Through this program, members receive overnight accommodations with no camping fees in peaceful and serene places across North America. In return, members are asked to make a purchase to patronize the small business that hosts them. Of these Hosts, Green Hill Farm is particularly special. Here, you can learn all about the farm’s history, its operations today, its origins within the Harvest Hosts community, and what future visitors can expect to experience. The entrance to Green Hill Farm is along a dirt path that is lined with beautiful, green trees.

The History

In 2000, Tom and Judy Knox began forming thoughts of retirement. Soon after, the concept for Green Hill Farm was born. They purchased a beautiful farm in Glenwood City Wisconsin, just about an hour east of the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and began farming the land. There, they have spent their retirement years farming the land, and the rest is history!A beautiful blue-eyed horse leans over a fence to greet Harvest Hosts guests.

The Business Today

About twenty years later, Tom and Judy continue to grow fresh produce each year for personal use and for the use of their local community. Each year, they are open daily from mid-June until early July for both U-pick and we-pick strawberries. Each year, once the strawberry season is complete, they continue to grow fresh fruits and vegetables for the rest of the growing season. They mostly operate as a working farm, but these fresh products are occasionally available for purchase. Selections often include corn, asparagus, green beans, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, squash, beets, carrots, and more. A large bowl of fresh-picked strawberries is being showed off by one of the owners of Green Hill FarmWhen asked about her favorite part of running her business, Judy replied, saying, “Living on a farm provides the perfect place to raise a family. I love watching the crops grow and harvesting them. It is all so satisfying in so many ways.”A yellow, pink, and orange sunset is pictured, presumably seen from somewhere on the Green Hill Farm property.

Joining Harvest Hosts

Green Hill Farm joined the Harvest Hosts program nearly ten years ago, and, since then, they have had a wonderful time hosting members. According to Judy, they have always had very nice, courteous, and appreciative guests, and, once, they even found that Judy was related to one fellow. Their overall atmosphere is very relaxed, and many previous guests have commented on the kindness of the hosts and the serenity and beauty of the farm. They have a variety of animals on their farm, including a sweet dog, horses, chickens, ducks, cats, and sheep. There are also plenty of opportunities for walking to enjoy the overall beauty and the evening sunsets. In addition to the garden, produce stand, animals, and views, they also have potable water available, a deck area, wildlife viewing opportunities, and more! Currently, they offer four pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size.wp-content-uploads-2020-08-5-5-1024x768.jpgGreen Hill Farm demonstrates an excellent example of the types of friendly, off-the-beaten-path experiences that many RVers seek to find.
