Trekking to Plum Hill Vineyards

Harvest Hosts is a unique RV membership program with a large network of available hosts. So far, 5178+ locations have opened their hearts and their homes and/or businesses to members of the Harvest Hosts RVing community. Through this program, members receive overnight accommodations with no camping fees in peaceful and serene places across North America. In return, members are asked to make a purchase to patronize the small business that hosts them. Of these Hosts, Plum Hill Vineyards is particularly special. Here, you can learn all about the vineyard’s history, its operations today, its origins within the Harvest Hosts community, and what future visitors can expect to experience.

The History

For RJ and Juanita Lint, the concept for Plum Hill Vineyards began in 2007 as a retirement project. They started with a prime vineyard site in the northern end of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, northwest of Forest Grove. The site consists of very deep, weathered, uniform Kilton soil, at an ideal elevation above the frost and fog with prime south-facing exposure. Then, they began planting vines in this perfect location. This partnership of rich land and a prime location, along with the help of friends and family and the close mentorship of fellow winemakers, allowed the Lints to properly kick off the excellent winery they now run today.

The Business Today

Nearly thirteen years later, Plum Hill Vineyards continues to operate as a small, family-owned winery built on a historical dairy farm in a pastoral setting. It is nestled between the cities of Forest Grove and Gaston, Oregon, deep in Oregon’s fertile wine country. Their small size plot of land allows the winemakers to grow truly excellent fruit for winemaking, as their goal is to become personally involved with each plant allows them to use deliciously-grown fruits to create the best wines possible. Furthermore, their focus on Oregon Pinot grapes allows them to really perfect their wines, creating delicious flavors that guests enjoy.

Currently, they offer a unique selection of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, and Rosé wines, all at an assortment of ages, as well as some sweet wines, such as a Riesling, a white dessert blend, and a red dessert blend.

Throughout the year, Plum Hill hosts a variety of events and occasional music weekends, while also allowing themselves to be rented out for weddings and other private events. In addition, they offer a wine club for those who want to become more involved. Meeting people and learning about them is Juanita’s favorite part of running her vineyard and winery.
