Unwinding at Appalachian Brewing Company

Harvest Hosts is an incredibly unique RV membership program. Through this program, members are granted access to 4862+ host locations across North America for overnight accommodations with no camping fees. To support each of these businesses, members typically make a small purchase of wine or produce or whatever it is that the business is selling or offering. Locations include establishments such as farms, wineries, breweries, museums, restaurants, attractions, and more. Appalachian Brewing Company is an excellent example of one of our incredible hosts. Located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, this brewery and eatery has been serving customers since 2014. Continue on to learn all about the brewery, its history, the business today, and its joining of the Harvest Hosts program.

The History

The Appalachian Brewing Company has been around since 1997, but their Mechanicsburg brewpub didn’t open until the summer of 2014. Their facility features plenty of free parking and very close proximity to shopping facilities. Their 26,000 square foot building features a bright and modern brewpub and grill, with more than twenty Appalachian Brewing Company craft beers on tap every day, plus a full menu of innovative brewpub cuisine! Seven years after its opening, the business continues to thrive and stays rather busy throughout the week.

The Business Today

The beers featured at Appalachian Brewing are really spectacular. In addition to their classic lagers, ales, stouts, and IPAs, they regularly produce two or three specialty beers per month. And while many people visit Appalachian Brewing for their fantastic beers, this branch is particularly popular for its food choices. The menu features a wide variety of appetizers, wings, quesadillas, soups, salads, power bowls, flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, dinner classics, kids meals,  desserts, and more. In addition to beers, they brew spirits and handcrafted sodas. They also offer tours of their SodaWorks facility on Saturdays and Sundays.

Dining guests can choose from their spacious main dining room with regular and high top tables, their ‘family dining’ section featuring comfortable booths, and their outdoor seating area. They also periodically host events in their private brewery room or in their semi-private mezzanine section.

Joining Harvest Hosts

This location joined the Harvest Hosts program in 2021, and since then, they have served many happy customers. Previous guests have been appreciative of the large parking area with plenty of space for big rigs. Harvest Hosts members have also enjoyed the delicious food and the convenient location.

I personally visited this location in April 2021 and had a wonderful experience. I tried one of their power bowls and a handcrafted root beer, which were both delicious. Their secondary patio is also dog-friendly, so my dogs enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while I ate dinner. There was plenty of space to maneuver my thirty-six foot RV towing a Jeep. In addition, the Harvest Hosts parking area was plenty spacious, even with three additional rigs parked nearby. Just a few hundred feet from the parking area was an Aldi grocery store, so I was able to stock my fridge without having to detach my Jeep and drive separately. Needless to say, this location was an excellent stopping point on my trek north, and I would absolutely return.

Appalachian Brewing Co of Mechanicsburg is an awesome Harvest Hosts location, perfectly showcasing the overall experience of the program. Be sure to stop by on your next trip through Central Pennsylvania.

Stayed at Appalachian brewing co. In May 2021. Super convenient off the Highway. Great RV parking area. Had dinner after a long drive, and it was outstanding! Both the staff as well as the food. Nice variety on the menu. And the beer was pretty darn good too!

We stayed at this HH in May, and it was terrific! Easy to park, and very convenient to the highway, and to shopping. The food and beer were great. We took the time to visit Historic Downtown Mechanicsburg (approx 5 miles away), and it was well worth the drive. Will definitely stop here again!

We stayed at Appalachian Brewing in April this year too! Ok he first HH stay. The beer and food were great, had wings, power bowl and rockfish tacos that were excellent as we’re the IPAs. At first concerned about the parking in back of shopping center and large road, but it turned out to be very quiet! A perfect first night stop heading out from NH, will definitely be back.

I too visited Appalachian Brewery Co in April 2021. It was a relaxing experience! From the brew tasting to the fire burger it was delicious. Anf the night was quiet in spite of being on a highway because the large parking lot sits behind a building. Will def return!

Hi, Susan! As of right now, the Mechanicsburg, PA location is the only one participating with Harvest Hosts. But who knows what the future will hold?
