Visiting Springside Farm

Harvest Hosts is an incredibly unique RV membership program. Through this program, members are granted access to 5174+ host locations across North America for overnight accommodations with no camping fees. To support each of these businesses, members typically make a small purchase of wine or produce or whatever it is that the business is selling or offering. Locations include establishments such as farms, wineries, breweries, museums, restaurants, attractions, and more. One of our incredible New York Harvest Hosts locations is Springside Farm. Located near the city of Syracuse, this diverse location practically does it all!

The History

For over 200 years, the Drexler family has been involved in commercial agriculture of some variety. This has included dairy farming, the production of vegetables and other crops. Part of the current farm is still livestock-based, raising sheep, alpacas, chickens, and livestock guardian dogs. The farm’s longstanding history has led to a variety of unique offerings throughout each of the four seasons.

The Business Today

Today, Springside Farm primarily operates as a diversified agritourism farm, which means that most activities and offerings are based on the visitor experience. In the spring, they host a Spring Shearing Festival, featuring their own sheep and alpacas getting their annual haircuts. In the summer, they operate a day camp, and they host weddings almost every weekend between May and September.

Then, in the winter they offer a selection of Christmas decorations, including outstanding home-grown firs (Fraser & Canaan), as well as wreaths, kissing balls, door swags, greens, and roping. You can even cut down your own tree, or purchase one that they have cut for you. In addition, Springside Farm operates a farm store that is available on the weekends and by appointment throughout the year. Here, they offer all sorts of unique goodies, including, but not limited to, local honey, maple syrup, alpaca yarns, alpaca fiber socks and other clothing, seasonal decorations, unique gifts, and more.

Fall Harvest at Springside Farm

In mid-September, the farm truly comes alive. At this time, they open for fall activities, and if you haven’t experienced fall here yet, you’re in for a real treat. Their “autumn experience extravaganza” truly goes way beyond pumpkin picking (although they offer that too!). Their “Maze Park Pass” allows guests to enjoy all of the following: unlimited access the corn maze, tree mazes, a jungle maze, a petting zoo, pedal cars, a jumping pad, zip lines, human foosball, a barrel train, wagon rides, a playground and more! At this time, they also open their farm gift shop and commercial kitchen, serving their own donuts and fudge, as well as their signature chili, pulled pork, hand-cut fries, apple fritters, and homemade pumpkin pie. This farm is incredible all year round, but the fall is truly the time to visit if you have the opportunity.
