The museum is free admission with a modest gift shop in front of the help desk offering items like a 500-piece puzzle of Davis County done by artist Eric Dowdle, stickers representing Syracuse and the museum, and books on local history. Guided tours are available free of charge and can last from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on if the external exhibits are visited. We offer a main building with multiple historic artifacts for the region, including historic and rare books, as well as a barn building with farm equipment and historic vehicles, a historic 1950s barbershop, and the pride of the museum: one of the oldest buildings in Utah, William Kay's original cabin, built in 1849, with additions made until the 1880s! We ask that you please consider a donation when you visit us, as our operations depend on the donations of the public. The museum is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations are tax-deductible and receipts can be provided upon request for tax filing purposes. Syracuse prides itself in the small-town, idyllic country-living feel while having the amenities of a larger community. Within walking distance of the museum are a wide variety of restaurants (both convenience and sit-down dining opportunities), a movie theater, a public library, a community center with gym and basketball court ($2.00/adult for a day pass for non-residents), a Walmart, a CVS, a Kroger store (Smith's, with fueling station), a play area, and picnic spots. Less than 10 minutes down the road is the world-famous Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake, which has a variety of outdoor activities (hiking, horseback riding, biking, walking, etc.) and wildlife (buffalo, antelope, many bird species, etc.) to enjoy. Check out an amazing view of the sunset and across the valley at Antelope Island. For an added feeling of safety and security, the Syracuse Police Station as well as the Syracuse Fire Station are right across the park, giving you peace of mind and security in case of emergency. We are more than happy to offer more recommendations or local favorite spots for your stay. We ARE pet friendly! Your furry friends are allowed inside the museum, as well, as long as they're on-leash and you check with the staff beforehand. There is also ample green grass at the park nearby, which is also pet-friendly, though again, at the park it is on-leash.
