Our sense of humor can be off putting to grumpy campers Details: We moved to the SW from the NW. Our combined years living in Alaska was apx 60. We've been out of the icebox and into the frying pan since 2004 and pretty much loving it...except in the summer. Our latest plan is to head north sometime around mayish and back south sometime around octoberish.I'm semi-retired and Melinda is fully tired. We like meeting new and unusual people and vise-versa. We've traveled the Alaska Hiway by motorhome, C-class & A-class & Pickup/camper, just pickup, and on our Harley 3 times. If your planning a trip to Alaska we can encourage you and suggest some don't miss places. Melinda taught at The University of Alaska In the Physical Education/Aquatics for several years and was a successful chef and hosted a PBS tv show called "Hooked on Seafood". I've gold mined in the Ak interior and I can tell you those guys on that Gold Fever tv show make it look easy. Home Town: Pahrump Nevada Favorite Boondocking Locations: Most anywhere thats not a city. We haven't done much boondocking, although we've been rving for about 20yrs. Did 6 years in a Toy Hauler (with our Harley) as full timers. We've done the Walmart a couple times and the occasional rest area and of course broke down beside the road waiting for a tow truck. Skills or Expertise to Share: I'm kind of handy and Melindas' a good conversationalist with lots of great stories to share.

Jim & Melinda are the best! They are so welcoming and helpful; they gave us a lot of great advice. The property is awesome! It's flat, hard packed gravel surface with lots of room, great views and lots of quiet. Our dog loved romping around the fenced in backyard. Definitely a favorite and can't wait to come back!

Jim and Melinda are wonderful hosts, generous and accommodating. Easy access to a flat gravel pad next to their house. Beautiful views of the mountains in front of you. We needed to stay for an extra night and they graciously allowed us to do so. It was a wonderful stay. Didn't get to see any Burros though.

We opted to stay quite longer than the usual 1-5 nights (with permission from our host, of course) and we couldn’t have asked for a better situation. Our hosts were super friendly, helpful, and kept to themselves unless we bumped into each other during daily chores. The wild donkeys wander through their property on their way back and forth to their daily grazing spots. there were babies in one band, and the other was an all boy “bachelor” band. We saw DROP DEAD GORGEOUS sunsets, and were a quick 10-12 min drive to town for whatever you might need. Cell service wasnt great for us (Verizon towers) but we made due. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and so did our pups as they frolicked amongst the sage-brush!

I stayed here on my trip to Death Valley National Park. There is plenty of parking in a very quiet neighborhood. Jim and Melinda are amazing human beings. I loved talking to them and listening to their life stories. They are very welcoming and they like to make their guests comfortable. I’m sure that I’m going to go back.
