Our location is in a small rural town of about 200 residents, just off the Trans Canada Hwy. We are on a 2 acre lot with plenty of mature trees for privacy. We are located less than 5 miles from a conservation area where you can enjoy a leisurely hike on their trails, have a picnic or put your kayak/canoe into a bay off of Lake Superior. You can also take a 3 minute drive to a federal dock nearby and try your luck at fishing off the dock. You could launch your boat or kayak there too. If you’d like to dig around in the rocks for your own amethyst check out the amethyst mines nearby. Blue Point amethyst mine is 15 minutes west of us right off the Trans Canada Hwy. Want to check out the provincial park and walk their trails at Ouimet Canyon. A 15-20 minute drive on a paved road will get you there. Eagle Canyon Adventures is another option along the road to Ouimet Canyon. It has two suspension bridges over a canyon, 300’ & 600’. They also have Canada’s longest, highest and fastest zip line. There are many hiking trails within 5 minutes to an hour from here that vary in degree of difficulty. You’ll also find a small country store just up the road from us that stocks almost everything you may need. From food, alcohol and gifts, to wood and gasoline/diesel, they’ve got it. Also located there is the Grill Shack if you don’t feel like cooking. And if you want to head to the city, it’s just a 45 minute drive from our location.

We are long time RVers who have traversed our home country of Canada several times. We’ve been to the east coast and to the west coast and many points between, starting out with tents, then pop up/tent trailers, slide in truck campers and a fifth wheel trailer, and now a travel van. We travelled with our kids when they were younger and have instilled the travel bug in them. They are now grown with families of their own, creating their own travel stories. Since taking early retirement, it’s just the two of us travelling in our Pleasureway travel van. We love exploring Canada near and far, as well as our winter escape to the southern US states. We are animal lovers, having had dogs, cats, horses and more throughout the years. No pets at the moment.

We had a delightful stay with Serge and Diane. They were very gracious as we dropped off our trailer and headed to Ouimet (wee' - met) Canyon. The next day, while they went to church, we went and walked their regular walk in the Hurkett Cove Conservancy. Then, since we were close, we went to the Blue Point Amethyst mine and hunted in the rock piles. We enjoyed another evening of visiting over the fire pit. For people who think BW is all about driveways haven't checked out many. This property is like camping in your own private park. Beautiful green lawn surrounded by tall evergreens planted by Serge and Diane through the years. Hurkett may not be on everyone's radar but it's a great midpoint between Nipigon (Ni - puh - gaan) and the amethyst mines. Serge and Diane would love to have you.
