host Profile

Hosted By MaynardvilleMoes

Age:

65+

We are residents of Knoxville, Tn. and are lifelong campers. We started with tents, graduated to pop-ups, then a hard shell tear-drop, and now a full size camper trailer. It is usually just the two of us but occasionally we drag along a couple of grandchildren. We are in the process of creating a host site of our own open to other boondockers. We like the adventure of meeting new people and seeing new places.

I was welcomed by Maynard who lead the way up the hill. My motorhome has a strong motor but not four wheel drive and I did not have any trouble going up to the beautiful camping site. My neighbours for the evening and night were the donkey, two goats and sheep and lamb on the farm nextdoor. I had a wonderful night of sleep in the quiet country spot. I strongly recommend this site to all boondockers. Water, a dump site, picnic tables, a fire ring and even a tiny library are available! I was fortunate to leave with a copy of Maynard’s book and some very fresh eggs. Thank you for the great hospitality!

this was our first boondocking experience and it was absolutely incredible! maynard and his wife were very respectful, communicative, and generous! we were able to pull into a beautiful secluded part of their property with water hook up! we spent an entire day just exploring the property and playing with the goats and donkey! we would absolutely recommend this stay!

This site is very special. Not the easiest to get to, but worth the challenge. You may want to double check your GPS. Make sure you are at Crystal Mountain Rd. The view is great. Very peaceful and tranquil. The Host are wonderful people with hearts as big as all outdoors. I stayed two nights and had a memorable time. I have a great story about being on the wrong road.

This place was so cool! Maynard was so hospitable. It is a little sketchy at first getting back there but follow him you will be A OK. We don't have the largest camper and made it fine even in 2 wheel drive. Our host writes books, or atleast 1. Would 100% stay here again!!!

This is a lovely location but you’ll need four wheel drive to access. The host is gracious and commuicates well!
