House Rules

Give us an approximate arrival time as soon as you can so we can put you on our calendar. Call us 15 minutes before arriving, and we will meet you at the gate so we can help you navigate to a camping spot. Please don't feed the animals. The horses and donkeys are older rescue animals that are prone to choke on apples, carrots, and the like due to their age. Don't open any gates and be cautious around the animals. Farm animals can seriously, or even fatally, injure humans and other animals. Farm equipment can be dangerous and hazardous. Stay far away from the farm equipment. Children must always be supervised and should not be allowed to explore alone. Friendly, well socialized dogs may be off leash, but must be accompanied at all times and should never be allowed to enter the pastures with the farm animals. Please respect our solitude: quiet hours are 10pm to 8am. No smoking outside your RV. No drugs. No loud noise. No generators. No fires.

We are a couple from Athens, Georgia. He's retired from law enforcement and now works for an information technology consulting firm. She works in veterinary medicine. We live on a horse farm about 10 miles north of Athens, Georgia. We often load up with our three kids and take them to explore this great country. Our oldest son is a senior at the University of Georgia studying history and contemplating law school. Our daughter is a high school senior that wants to be an author of great novels. Our youngest son is a high school freshman focused on perfecting his baseball and video game prowess. We're also Boondockers Welcome hosts. If you are ever in the Athens, Georgia area looking for a place to overnight, we would love to have you stay at Sonny South Farm. We can't wait to see where the open road leads us....

Great spot! Host was there to meet us and give us a few parking options, all of which were nice. Area itself was pretty quiet even when we picked spot closer to road. Dirt road next to property was a peaceful place to take walks and listen to the many birds. Being close to Athens was nice as we went into town several times over our 5 day stay to run errands, ride bikes along greenway, partake in a local brewery and just enjoy the town. Thanks D&M for the hospitality and good conversations.

Folks here were super friendly and accommodating. They has 50/30 amp and water if needed. If you’re just passing through and need a quick stop I highly recommend staying here.

David directed me to where I could park my RV and showed me the access to the electric, water and even Wifi. He made it known that he was only a phone call away if I needed anything. I was able to go down and pet his beautiful horses. I slept very well as it was so quiet. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone that needs a great stop over or stay in Georgia.

We stayed for one night and loved our stay there. We had a view of the farm and saw horses and deer. The neighbor has buffalo which we saw on out way out. The hosts were very friendly and communication was great. Would love to stay there again!
