We have highway access and several mostly-level parking spots on our small acreage surrounded by much larger ranches. The highway can be busy during the day, but it is usually very quiet at night. Monarch Ski area is within 20 miles. Poncha Springs is the closest community, for minor shopping and some dining. Downtown Salida is 6 miles away. There are several breweries, wineries and a distillery. Outdoor activities in Chaffee County include river-related (fishing & rafting), hiking the numerous peaks, mountain biking, 4-wheeling, and general sightseeing. Municipal water and a pay dump station are at the Poncha Springs Visitor Center.

House Rules
Please arrive after 9:00 am and before dark. Check in with us when you arrive so we can get you settled in a spot and then you may come and go as you please. Limit generator use and do not run them at night after 10:00 pm or before 8:00 am (exceptions are made for very quiet units). We live in an area where fire danger can be very high, so please no smoking and ask before cooking outdoors. Be mindful of children and pets. Although our fences may look sturdy, please don't climb on fences and gates. The weather can change quickly and this area can get very windy with little notice. Secure loose items and awnings if you will be away.
Location
We have room for at least 3 RVs. Paved highway access and gravel drive. Parking is gravel or dirt. Our spots are back-in. There should be plenty of room for tow vehicle parking. Check in before parking, so you do not drive over our well or septic system. We don't usually answer telephone calls, but are typically very prompt if you contact us through the BW messaging system.

Our first RV was a horse trailer with living quarters. It was definitely a learning experience! When it was time for a different RV, we chose a used truck camper that required a lot of work. Our third RV is a newer truck camper that we've upgraded to better fit our lifestyle. Lithium batteries and a large solar array are great because we hate needing to run a generator. We adore our two German Shorthaired Pointers and they are fantastic travelers, as long as we can find a dog park along the way. We have spent the past few years traveling the western United States for weeks at a time, primarily in the spring and winter, returning to spend the mild summers at home in Colorado. We would love to head east of the Mississippi soon!

We arrived two hours early due to the renovation of Poncha Springs, but Gerri and Kevin welcomed us very warmly and made us feel very comfortable. They told us to park where we wanted and ring the bell if we needed anything. We felt like we were visiting a relative's house, and it felt comfortable and safe, just like camping in our yard. It is easy to find as it is facing the main road, and the dump station operated by the city is just 1 minute away, so everything was perfect. The selection of Gerri's place was perfect. If there is a chance, I will definitely visit again next time.

Not easy to find with our GPS it took us at the top of a mountain at 14,000’ with snow. After putting the adresse on another GPS it take us down at the door. Nice place for one night when travelling and very nice host.

Kevin and Gerri have a nice place in a great location to explore the valley( I loved Minnie and Pearl) .It is near the road but we were out and about when there was traffic and its quiet at night. Its the main road to Monarch Pass so there are not a ton of people driving that at night. Some great views of the mountains from our spot. There is a good laundry in town. Do yourself a favor and go to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs.Great hosts. Thank you for sharing.

Gerri was great to communicate with, and was understanding when we ran into traffic and our check in was delayed. Access to the parking spots was easy, and the location was quiet and felt safe even though it offered the convenience of being just off the highway. They offered great local recommendations when I inquired, and were just all around warm and friendly people. Thank you for sharing your space with us!
