Happy House is located just off the main street in quaint Chapel Hill within walking distance to downtown. Chapel Hill is a college town, and Happy House is located in the historic downtown residential area, but we are nestled in the woods. Suggested Local Attractions:There are many local attractions associated with the University including theater, museums, university lectures, and, of course, major university sporting events. Chapel Hill is also a foodie town with many good restaurants, breweries, cocktail lounges, and dive bars. Please note that if you don’t have a Bio and Rig details on HarvestHosts we will politely decline your stay request (it’s nice to know something about our guests).

House Rules
No smoking on property. No loud music - If you can hear the music 50 feet away, it’s too loud! Smiles are important. Expect guests to leave the space as they found it. No generators. No putting trash in our garbage bin without asking us… our municipality is very picky about what they take, and I don’t enjoy having to pick out others’ trash! Our neighbors are all really nice… say hello if you see them walking.
Location
Access Road Conditions: The parking is essentially in our front driveway - a large reasonably level parking area. The challenge is access as the vehicle must be able to make a somewhat tight turn after a small hill from the road into our long driveway. All is paved. Once in the parking area there is room to maneuver. Please park relatively close to the stone wall on the left as you enter so we can still get cars and UPS deliveries in and out. You are welcome to turn around and back into that spot if you’d like the other side of your camper facing the driveway area. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Tow vehicles may be parked next to the RV. Do not use our trashcan or recycle bin without first discussing specifically with Matt or Bobbi. Chapel Hill is very stringent about what they will and will not pick up, and I especially despise pulling other peoples trash out and having to sort it!

Quiet and thoughtful. Like to mountain bike and trail run. Details: Native North Carolinian (Matt) and Texan (Bobbi), we really enjoy the outdoors. We also enjoy good meals - either cooking ourselves or finding great restaurants. During the day we typically work remotely and then play in the afternoons. Not typically early risers when at home, but in the road... we just go with the flow. Home Town: Chapel Hill, NC Favorite Boondocking Locations: BLM land in the west. Skills or Expertise to Share: Reasonably handy. Computer skills. Cooking. Matt is also a pilot.

We stayed a night at Happy House on our way back to Wisconsin from the coast. Chapel Hill is a lovely town and our hosts are conveniently located to the University area and all the amenities there. The host location at first appeared challenging for our 24 foot rig but there is easily enough room to maneuver and park. Our parking spot was level and private. The hosts communicated well and were informative and very friendly. BONUS......they have a new puppy! We had a very restful nights sleep.

Matt was so gracious. Coached me on parking, even let me in his garage to use tools for some work on my camper. Quiet neighborhood, safe and cozy. I parked a 25’ Flying Cloud, but it took some work and patient coaching from my wife. It’s manageable, but plan some extra time parking - best to back in. The drive is flat and you won’t need to level up much, if at all. We were quite delighted with this location and if you pair it with Matt’s helpful hospitality, you’ve got a great HH site in the heart of Chapel Hill. We will stay again, if permitted, and highly recommend!

Nice stop, although i did not get to meet the hosts. So nice of them to allow me to stay even though not home. Fortunately my vehicle is under 20’ so i had no problem maneuvering. Nice quiet neighborhood!

This was by far the best Harvest Host experience that i've had, hands down! Matt and Bobbi are incredible people and the best hosts. They had extra tickets to a play and gave them to me while they watched my pup! They recommended the best places and local hikes. Their property is gorgeous, hidden in the woods so feels like a private oasis but still walking distance to UNC and downtown Chapel Hill. Would def stay here again - Thank you, Matt and Bobbi!!!
