We have over 16 acres of water, rock, pine and hardwood forest. Our house overlooks a large beaver pond, over a ridge from our driveway. Our property also backs onto several hundred acres of woodland, which you can easily walk through on a little-used public gravel road beside our neighbour's house. We live in an area where everyone sends their children to summer camps and within a half hour's drive of three beautiful provincial parks: Murphy's Point, Silver Lake and Sharbot Lake. The closest town is Perth (15 minutes away): this is where we buy groceries, gas, beer, wine, etc. It is 200+ years old and has very pretty historic stone buildings, built by stonemasons from Scotland who settled here after finishing the nearby Rideau Canal (a UNESCO world heritage site) and the parliament buildings in Ottawa. It’s a very scenic village, one of the prettiest in Canada. Lots of little shops and green space. There’s a small farmers' market on Saturday mornings and a very good local museum (also the tourism office) on main street. You can also go to Westport (20 minutes away) for fun shopping, and just a lovely little village to walk around. Go sit on the patio overlooking the pond at The Cove restaurant and check out the little marina on the lake (Westport is in the middle of two large lakes, which you’ll see as you drive down the hill into town.) Or go to Foley Mountain Park, which has a wonderful beach and great nature trails.

House Rules

We hope you enjoy your stay with us! If possible, arrive before dark and 'check out' before noon. All quiet after 10pm. And please...no smoking; supervise children; ask first about campfires; keep dogs on leashes; and leave no trace when you go.

Location

We are located directly off of a major paved road, with flat gravel driveway access (not pull-through but with 3-point turn area closer to the house). We can offer 1 of 2 site location options: 1 grassy clearing that is private and right off the road, without hookups; 1 on a gravel driveway beside our house, with electrical and water hookups possible. Please note that while both are in the woods, you cannot see the pond from either site; you are welcome, however, to walk over the small ridge and down the path to sit by the pond at any time during your stay.

Hi everyone! My husband Steve (retired) and I (not retired) have just bought our first RV, so we're keeping it short & simple --a T@b 320S Boondock--as we get started. We live in the woods near Perth, Ontario, with our chocolate lab, Riley, and plan to explore further afield in Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada in 2022. We've loved home exchanging for years and see this as a more mobile version of this kind of travel, so look forward to meeting others as we host and camp our way through the coming years.

A warm and welcoming host greeted us and helped us get situated and hooked up. The property is lovely and the chairs at the pond were a wonderful place for us nature-lovers to sit, watch, and relax. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet his wife, but Steve was very nice to chat with. It was a great spot to stay, and we hope to go back again.
