Country setting. 10 acre lot with good privacy on very lightly traveled road. There is a semi-hidden pond in my front yard with a lot of plant growth around it. Neighboring lot also has a much larger pond further back. Be aware of these if you have a pet or child that likes to roam. Parking is close to pond. There are lots of frogs in pond. Know that they can get quite noisy at night. You may want to bring your own means of shade, if desired. There is very little available in my yard. Tents are welcome. Suggested Local Attractions:The small local village about 4.5 miles away has grocery, auto parts, hardware, pizza and ice cream parlors, restaurants, pub, lumber yard, laundromat, dollar store, parks, bowling, library, fuel and propane stations (including rec fuel), and motor sports shop. There are several other larger cities with popular attractions within a half hour drive or less. Grand Haven, Muskegon, and Grand Rapids are some of those. Grand Haven is popular for its beach, musical fountain, boardwalk, pier, and Coast Guard Festival. Muskegon is popular for its beaches, piers, museums, drive-in theater, parties in the park, Bike Time, and Irish Festival. Grand Rapids is popular for its museums, breweries, Meijer Gardens, John Ball Zoo, and Art Prize. Lake Michigan is about 15 miles away. There are many other smaller lakes and rivers nearby. The Muskegon River is popular for tubing, canoeing, or kayaking. There are 4 different rental places for that nearby. Muskegon has several RV dealers. Should you require a part, there's a good chance you'll find it locally. In the summer and fall, there are blueberry fields and orchards nearby to pick your own fresh fruit from. Michigan's Adventure, Michigan's largest amusement and water park, is in the area.

Be respectful. Clean up after yourself and pet(s). If you smoke cigarettes or cigars, I prefer you don't smoke in my presence. Please do not leave remnants of them on property. Water fill up can be provided. A constant hookup cannot. Water is from well. Filtered through whole house system. Tastes good! Donations accepted for electric hookup only. Enough to cover usage is adequate. Not necessarily $5/day. That is the lowest choice I'm able to set it at. No running generators from 11 PM - 7 AM. I'm flexible on this if it's not loud. Wifi no longer available. AT&T and Verizon signals are both decent for phone and data. Good enough for streaming video. Had a guest with T-Mobile tell me they lost data signal when turning onto this road, but had it until then. That was 2 years ago. May have improved since then. Didn't notice that holding tank rule at first. Seems unfair to me. I don't feel obliged to uphold it, so the many travelers I've seen using composting waste systems are welcome here.
Access Road Conditions: Gravel road. Remains easily passable when wet. Only about a half mile from paved road. Plenty of overhead clearance on road and in my driveway for tall vehicles. This whole area is very flat. No hills or sharp curves in road. There is a little over 20 feet of space between ditches to work with when entering/exiting driveway. I had a guest with a 40' foot fifth wheel that seemed like it was just enough space for. If you're comfortable maneuvering a longer trailer or class A in that opening, you're welcome to request a stay. There is adequate space once in. No problem to stop in road and detach a towed vehicle, if that makes entry easier for you. Depending on size/weight of rigs, I may be able to accommodate an additional guest. Feel free to contact me if calendar shows spot already reserved. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: In driveway. My driveway is gravel, about 220' long, and shaped like a backward L. The gravel ends in front of my house, but there is another spot to get out on the other side of the 330' lot if you drive across the grass. I do this with my boat in the summer, so I don't have a problem if visitors need to use it. However, please ask about the conditions before arriving if you would like to use this. During extended wet periods, the ground gets soft. I had a guest get stuck attempting to use this path and would prefer to avoid that happening again.

Being the change I want to see in the world. Details: I am an introvert who enjoys his privacy, but also feels that restoring common unity among humanity is a pursuit that more people need to focus on. Providing a spot for travelers to rest, without treating them as a commodity, is one small way I can do that. All are welcome. If you're the type that only requires a minimal amount of interaction, that is fine. There's no expectation of bonding here. However, I'm happy to help those who may require additional hospitality. Home Town: Ravenna, Michigan Favorite Boondocking Locations: Haven't been to any yet. Skills or Expertise to Share: Should you have any basic vehicle/RV repair and/or fabrication projects, it's likely I have what you need to accomplish it. Pretty handy with computers and printers. Can probably help you with most PC or printer problems. Know enough about networking them too. Certified locksmith. Good cook. Make my own recipe of beer bread I'm well know for among family and friends. Competent at using sewing machine. Feel free to ask for help with anything. Or bread, if you'd like to try it.

Our family was staying for a weekend softball tournament. We were greeted upon arrival, given options for parking our trailer and then offered some items from the garden. It was great being able to fill up our water tank and have electric for our stay. Thank you!

We had a very nice 4 night stay with Mark on his rural property. Access to property and parking site is good. We have a 36' 5th wheel and backed in his driveway with no issues. Parking spot is secluded for the most part in front yard on hardpacked driveway. Mark was there to greet us and help us park, shared materials and info on the area and gave us harvest from his vegetable garden. The site is a great basecamp for exploring Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Grand Haven. Our internet is thru T-Mobile and we did have 2 bars and were able to stream. We also used the available power hookup, so we were quite comfortable our entire stay. Would definitely stay with this host again when in the area. Thank you, Mark for sharing it with us.
