It is cooler than Grand Junction, with breezes and shade trees with a year round creek. Located on the side of Grand Mesa near small towns of Mesa and Molina. Grand Junction prices for gas and food are much cheaper than other areas around. Suggested Local Attractions:Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa with many lakes, Vega lake near Colbran, Black Canyon toward Gunnison, Moab (Arches and Canyon land National parks), Ouray and Telluride, Palisade wineries and peach/cherry farms and Grand junction main street art/sculptures, Engstrom's toffee candy store on 7th st. Colorado River, Glenwood canyon and hot springs. Lots of hiking. hunting, fishing, mtn biking.

House Rules

Common courtesy and common sense covers 95% of it. If the fire danger is high, no open fires. There are black bears, elk, deer, moose, turkey, hawks, owls, cows, etc. and the creek so children, animals, and stupid people are at risk. There is an outhouse available (keep it clean). Take your garbage with you. Atleast one night, stay awake long enough to look up and see the incredible stars. Fall asleep listening to the creek. Remember we are 7500 feet and the Mesa 10,000, so you better quit smoking, start exercising, begin an iron supplement, etc. Hospital trips for Colorado visitors that over-estimate their fitness and the altitude is common, so do some reading/research on preparation. Just the dryness of Colorado causes dehydration if you do not keep up with drinking fluids.

Location

Access Road Conditions: Camping site is large.... So it will accommodate friends and family traveling together with more than 1 motorhome, travel trailer or tent. Need good ground clearance for circular drive RV site, may find the Left site easier to drive in and back out. Pull thru parking is on one site only, but larger RVs will find the pull in ( and backup) site easier than the circular drive thru site. After you pull into the gate, stop and walk around to see what is best for you. You will be climbing to 7500 feet on public paved roads, until the last 2 miles when it becomes gravel, then 1/4 mile on a gravel private road. Snow in winter will make it difficult/impossible. I installed double 10 feet, gray gates, so there has been no problem turning into the RV site so far. If you Miss the gate on Right and drive over the creek you went too far. Our house is NOT located near the RV site !! Arriving in the dark/night is not advised. There is NO cell service here. By the entrance to the private rd, weak cell service, down by KE rd there is good signal. Take notes or do screen save of the detailed directions by map/gps. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: the RV site is one acre, so parking is not an issue.

retired respiratory therapist Details: happily retired, living at 7500 elevation on the side of Grand Mesa Colorado. I worked hard developing a secluded acre on my property next to year round creek as an RV site for family/friends. Decided to open it up to campers and RV travelers when we have no visitors. Home Town: Mesa, Colorado Favorite Boondocking Locations: I usually only boondocked when we bought raw land and were developing it as a homesite (Oregon and Colorado). Wife and I did a lot of trailer camping in Florida because retired resident seniors only have to pay a token amount to stay with full hookups. Skills or Expertise to Share: I have owned motor home and travel trailers in the past. As you probably know already, one gets pretty handy at fixing RV problems if you own one. I love auto mechanics but now that I am old I limit my repairs to simple easy repairs like brakes, starters, alternators, etc.

Definitely off the beaten path. Great directions. Quiet and hidden. Had a little trouble getting level on the site. The pictures make it look much more level than it is. We made it work though. The sound of the creek is amazing! Very clean and worth the drive.

A very secluded peaceful get away way up in the mountains. It worked well for us to see all the local attractions that we wanted to get in. Communication was great and the host offered a lot of information on the area. The location was well maintained, has picnic table and chairs to sit and listen to river as we unwound at night. This is no cell service but with an extension pole we were able to get Wi-Fi to watch TV. The drive up is ok, you just have to be a little careful if you have a big motorhome and watch your clearance. We were able to park on the bottom level which was nice, it just took patience getting the big rig up and down but it can be done. And yes, take the time to enjoy the stars at night, amazing! We would come back for another visit.

A wonderful spot by creek among wildflowers. The host is fantastic! The spot is maintained with rock and he even collected wood for the fire pit.

Absolutely outstanding host, so helpful, so kind and very grateful to have been privileged to stay at his camping oasis he has created. There is several spots to chose from, a lovely creek, outstanding stars not to mention an out house, benches, chairs, fire ring. Best one nighter!!

Perfect! What a lovely property. RV site is separate from the addressed property so look for the gates and Boondockers sign. If you reach the house address you've gone too far, I did. The site is private tucked away surrounded by trees with a babbling creek running alongside. A bit of a slope so be prepared to use blocks. No cell service, but Starlink worked just fine. Very peaceful and relaxing. Dale is very friendly and accommodating.
